This is the Zylight Z90 LED DV Kit. The Z90 head packs 230 Hi-leds (high-density light emitting diode) into 1 square inch panel which produces a remarkably soft 60° beam.
The 1-100% dimming head offers almost unheard of control of light quality via 3 output modes. White Mode allows selection of 3200K or 5600K white light, while Color Mode enables the user to tweak the red/green/blue hue and adjust the saturation of it. In Gel Mode the Z90 outputs white light with color temperature control from 2500K-9000K as well as +/- green color correction control.
Built-in ZyLink technology allows ganging multiple units together using simple communication and function control as if they were a single unit, from as much as 30' (9 m) away.
The Z90 has (2) 1/4"-20 sockets for mounting onto the camera or light supports using dedicated Zylight accessories. Included in the kit are:
Accessory Adapter: Allows the use of popular sized 3" (7.6 cm) light shaping tools like soft box speed rings and barn doors, to the front of the light.
NP-1 Battery: The battery features 14.8V high-performance Lithium-ion cells, a 4-stage LED power gauge, protection circuitry and D-Tap (Anton Bauer) connector. It provides 2.5 hours of power to the Z90.
NP-1 Battery Charger: This multi-voltage (120-240) charger features an LED status indicator and includes an AC power cord.
Long D-Tap Cable: Provides power via optional professional (12, 13.2, 14.4V) battery accepting Power Tap (Anton Bauer Style) cables. The 2-pin, 40" (102 cm) coiled cable extends to 80" (203 cm) and features a twist-lock DC plug.
Hot Shoe Ball Mount: This compact ball head (2"/5 cm) features omni-directional ball action and a camera shoe mount. It is topped with a 1/4"-20 screw which threads into the Z90's mounts.

Comments about Zylight Z90 LED DV Kit:
I use this for doc style video shooting. The instantly adjustable color temperature is a huge plus. Light works great off an NP1 or optional AC supply. My only quibble is the stud mount when not using a smaller camera. The stud and the tilting mount (which I purchased as accessories) are not tight enough and the light comes loose and spins sometimes. Overall, a great product, though pricy!

Comments about Zylight Z90 LED DV Kit:
Great light for on location work. I shot a bunch of street interviews in Barcelona and Paris last week and this light rocked. A little flimsy on the adaptor, but being able to dial in the color was a dream.Should be noted that the wrong battery came in the kit I ordered. I received a BP50 instead of a BP60. This was a packing mistake at Zylight. One email and the next day I had a BP60. That is awesome support! Will certainly buy more gear from them[...]

Comments about Zylight Z90 LED DV Kit:
I have used this light for both on camera and as a studio light. It is a multi purpose light with the ability to dial through not only the most used colors that we use, daylight and tungston, but also all the colors in the rainbow. This gives you the ability to use one light for many uses. It is very sturdy and does not weigh much. It is very pricey which would be one of the main disadvantages, however so far I love this light!

Comments about Zylight Z90 LED DV Kit:
If you appreciate available-light photography (higher ISO's, faster lenses & fill-light) the Zylight Z90 might be just what you're looking for.
I'm shooting Canon's wonderful 5Dmkll for both stills & video and needed a fill-light for both. With the 5D's super low-light capability using little more than the ambient room-light the Zylight makes for a wonderful fill-light.
Take a look at how the Strobists are working with small camera flashes, lightweight stands, folding umbrellas and adapt these kits to a Zylight for your motion (video) projects!
Obviously the Zylight puts out WAY less light than even a handheld flash unit but this can be countered with good available light shooting techniques!
With the typical Strobist shoot-through umbrella about three feet from your subject (with zero ambient light) you'll be shooting at around ISO 640 and getting 1/50th @ f2-2.8. BUT THE LIGHT IS LOVELY!
The Zylight is probably the perfect fill-light (or kicker) as the *VARIABLE* color temperature appears to cover most the RGB spectrum, all this without using gels too. It's very handy for those colored-gel-effects we sometimes use on backgrounds.
If your the type of still or motion photographer (emphasis on photographer here) who looks for that *beautiful window light* to shoot WITH, Zylight is perfect fill-light for you. On the other-hand if your the type who shoots AGAINST the *strong window light* -- then go buy a couple of *higher-powered* DEDO lights!
