It is the Backpack I was looking for. Ok the upper compartment could be a little bigger for an ipad, but the backpack is very versatile. You can load the camera from top or bottom compartment or for easy acces from the side. I haven't quite figured out how to pack it optimal for the divieders give only limited possibilities. That would one other thing that could be improved. But all in all it is great. And I feel save in the city since you can pack it so not anyone can have easy access. I was looking for a nice little daypack wich ataches the tripod. nd that is exactly what it is.

Comments about Lowepro Versapack 200 AW Backpack (Black and Gray):
I owned an older Lowepro bag, and while that was good, it had a lot of space for additional lenses but I never had that many or will have that many, and had insufficient space for additional personal items. I upgraded to the Versapack 200 and loved it, it was great during a recent trip I took. The most important, it was very comfortable, had enough space for me, protected my camera and lenses, and could also carry my tripod.

Comments about Lowepro Versapack 200 AW Backpack (Black and Gray):
I have just received this bag about a week ago and am so far impressed. While I haven't been able to get much use out of it, I can tell that it will suit my expectations.
The bag is a decent size and is of high quality. It's loaded with features, such as tripod storage, a hidden rain cape, and seems to have enough space for most of my gear. The bag falls short with respects to ways in which it can be configured with the removable, Velcro inserts. The lower compartment can be altered to suit most configurations, however the insert which separates the lower compartment from the top can either be in place, or removed. If I would want to keep the 18-200mm lens attached, I would need to sacrifice the additional space of the top compartment by removing the insert.
With regards to accessibility, it takes a bit longer to remove the camera from the bag due to the zipper and clips. I don't mind this feature seeing as the camera is better protected, however if you want to take the camera out quickly this bag may cause some difficulty.
All in all, this bag is great. Despite not carrying as much as I had anticipated, it's still made of high quality materials and would function perfectly for day trips.

Comments about Lowepro Versapack 200 AW Backpack (Black and Gray):
This backpack is what I need. It will not take all my gear, but for that I have other bags. This bag does not look like a camera bag, unless you recognize the brand. The camera compartment can be configured to fit a camera with 70-200 f4 lens and another lens plus flash. Camera can be accessed quickly if you reconfigure the compartments. At first I thought that the compartment for personal gear is a bit small, but since I told myself that the primary purpose of this bag IS to be unobtrusive and candid and only used for short periods of time, I came to live with it and actually find the compartment large enough.
The backpack accepts slip-lock cases, so if you need to expand storage, you have the option to do it. The most useful part of the back pack is the ability to roll it up and stick it into a suitcase and use it later at your destination. It has a space for IPad or Android tablet, but not for larger laptops. I really like the fact that I can take it to work and no one suspects that there is camera inside. I looked around really hard to find something that would suit me, and this backpack came the closest. It is comfortable to carry with the camera and personal gear. When outside on a hike, I am able to attach my Manfrotto 055XPRO3 tripod with the 054 ball and it feels all right, though when it starts raining, I have to hold the tripod as the weather cover cannot be attached otherwise.

I don't travel but I was wanting a bag I could cram alot of equipment in. That being said, overall, the bag does have a lot of space. However, the bottom compartment was a bit smaller than I was expecting. I was wanting to try the sling aspect of the bag but the side pocket was too small for my d700 with the battery grip, which is how I prefer my camera. But with that being said, it is a versatile enough of a bag, if I wanted to, I could rearrange the bag and remove the grip to make it work on a day I did want to take advantage of the sling.
Now, if the bottom part had been a bit bigger, I would have given this 5 stars, because this would have been the perfect bag. Normally I carry an extra bag for the 4 speedlight flashes that I use. The top part was big enough to fit those snug in there with room to spair! I love that it has BOTH a holster for a tripod and compression straps for whatever else kind of stand on the bottom. Plus, the modular system for adding pouches, for other lenses, will really come in handy down the road.
Also, I went from a messenger bag to this and I have to say that carrying my equipment like this feels WAY much lighter. I wouldn't hesitate to grab it all and go on a hike.

With a squeeze, this bag BARELY holds my Canon 5D MkII plus 70-200 f2.8 IS in the bottom compartment using the side zippers. That leaves the upper compartment available for everything else.
To use the side compartments, you need to have/get dividers ... Lowepro does not supply them with the bag. I used some I had from prior purchases.
The bottom compartment is padded, the upper compartment is not. All the dividers are removable, but the padding that lines the bottom compartment is not. While the bag folds, the padding adds a little bulk. The bag seems well built.
This bag is perfect for days when you want to bring the gear and go light. And, it is comfortable.

the bag is nice and small just like i wanted. wish i came with more padding sections had get my own to get the side opening to be useful. the top compartment to me is to meshy and looks funny when wearing the bag. however it is a good bag and would say its worth the money if you have extra padding sections. it holds my 5D MK2 with a 50mm F1.2 lens with 100mm Marco and 15mm Fisheye just fine.

Comments about Lowepro Versapack 200 AW Backpack (Black and Gray):
I used this bag while on holiday in Spain and Portugal. It's large enough for a mid-size DSLR (Nikon D300s) with standard zoom attached (Nikkor 18-105mm), and two more lenses (Nikkor 35mm f1.8G, Tokina 12-24mm f/4). The top section has space for a pullover, and small items like an ipod or a book.
The bag is really comfortable, and quick draw works great. The only minus I can think of is the lack of an external water bottle holder. The interior of the bag is essentially one compartment split into two, which means if your bottle leaks in the personal items compartment, your camera will get wet.
The all-weather cover and tripod holder work nicely. There are two straps at the bottom which can be used to attach a small tripod, or a sleeping bag etc.
All in all, a fantastic bag to walk around with.

I needed a bag to carry my DSLR, zoom lens & video camera, plus wallet, H2O bottles, sunglasses, etc. around Orlando theme parks. This back pack bag was perfect. All of my camera & video equipment fit neatly in the bottom compartment designed to protect this equipment. The top compartment fit everything I would have put in a medium-sized purse, including wallet, keys, sunglasses, eye glasses, a micro folding umbrella, water bottle & even my baseball cap. Although I didn't use it on this trip, I love the built-in rain cover and would have used it had we gone on any water rides. Only one negative - I didn't need the waist and chest straps & found them to be somewhat of a nuisance and had to buckle them to keep them out of the way. I would like to see side pockets added to the pack for my water bottle & sunglasses. All in all, an excellent bag for travel and camera protection.

Great construction. It´s comfortable but a little small for me. Anyway, I can still fit a SB900, SBIII, charges, radio transmitter case, batteries, memory cards ans some cereal bars or other small things, maybe even a t-shirt on the upper compartment. In the lower part I go with one D300s with 18-200mm, plus a 50mm and a Sigma 10-20mm (tight). Nice pockets too. I miss a place for water.
It´s great it has a raincover.
I can also fit my tripod Manfrotto 190x, which I though it was impossible. Still possible to fit a small tent under there, and if you are strong enough may try to attach some sleeping bag with bungee ball cord.

Comments about Lowepro Versapack 200 AW Backpack (Black and Gray):
I chose this bag over many others because it seemed more versatile. It has good sized compartments without being too big overall, it has side access on both sides for camera gear, and it has plenty of external straps. I'm intending to use it for a trip to Vietnam shortly, but have given it a decent workout since buying it so feel I can review it now.
I carry a Pentax K-r with standard and telephoto zoom, a 50mm prime, external flash, medium Giotto rocket and odds and ends.
Overall, it's lightweight but feels rugged. Good zips, good pockets and, as I said, good sized compartments. The main issue I have with the bag is that the provided inserts for the camera section aren't very versatile, especially if you want to access your camera from the side flaps. I ended up having to add some extra velcro to the sides of the compartment and use an insert from an old bag to get it set up as I wanted. Having done that, it is going to work well for me – I can fit the camera into the main compartment with any of my lenses attached. It's a pity more inserts/velcro weren't supplied from the outset. I would also have liked a couple more small pockets but that's not a big deal.
It feels comfortable and isn't a problem to carry for long periods. One minor additional complaint is that it won't stand flat on the floor as the 'raincoat' forms a slight bulge at the base.

I bought this bag to use on an upcoming family vacation. I wanted something that would hold and protect my gear and have space for my personal belongings and this bag does not disappoint!
The bag is extremely comfortable and easy to use. The side access pocket for the camera is fantastic. I tested the weather cover this weekend in the snow and it's a really great feature! - great bag for hiking/traveling/vacations...
I was a little worried what kind of space the top pocket would have, but it was VERY roomy and the bag has lots of great pockets for memory cards and other accessories.
ONLY complaint so far is that I wish it had a mesh pocket on the outside to hold a water bottle.

I never make equipment reviews, but I think this one deserves more one because there is just a few of them at the moment.
This backpack is a really good and well made one. Lowepro apparently has though in every single aspect in order to make a real good product. A few cons are the ones that other customer already mentioned, like the necessity to use both hands in order to open the superior compartment and the unpadded waist belt. Nothing to really worry about, but that is why I didn't give it 5 stars.
I like how small and light this pack is. Maybe it is even too small for some people, but for me it is perfect. It stays small and light even with my whole equipment inside it. And also it is a very discreet bag, with a low-profile aspect. Highly recommended!

I have gone through TONS of bags searching for that "perfect one," which I now know does not exist. However, this is the closest bag to perfection for its usability and size.
If you are crafty enough you can fit a good amount of gear - plenty for a day out, with ample room for personal effects. One of the things that bothered me before I bought the bag was that I did not see any reviews on what gear people could actually fit in this bag.
On an average outing I can safely pack a Canon 7D w/ battery grip and Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L attached, Canon 85mm 1.8 and my super wide Tokina 11-16mm without a problem. If i need to bring along anything else (gear wise) there is plenty of room in the top compartment.
Overall this is an excellent and affordable compact day bag that I truly enjoy using. A++
