I originally thought I was smart enough to set the correct viewing angle but my curiousity got the better of me and I ordered the gauge.

Dead simple to install. Measure the center of the vertical of your screen. Line up the pointy front of the gauge at that middle point. Peel off plastic cover and press sticky velcro to top of laptop.

From your viewing position adjust the screen so the front point of the triangle lines up with the slot in the back of the gauge. At that point your eyes are ninety degrees to the screen.

Need to stuff your laptop in a travelling bag ? Simply peel the gauge off it's velcro and store it. To reinstall simply press back on.

Although it only took me a few seconds to adjust the screen angle before, the addition of the gauge makes it much more straight forward and consistent.

I edit all my photos on my laptop and without this little device, I had a heck of a time trying to figure out how to angle my laptop monitor. Now I know I am always at the correct working angle. It is well made and was easy to install. I suggest going to their website for installation instructions, just to be sure you get it exactly in the middle.

There's not much to say -- it simply works! I feel better knowing that I am always viewing my screen at the correct angle. It is simple to install, easy to remove and you can close your laptop while it is attached.

This gizmo does just what it's supposed to do: gives an easy visual cue that you're looking at your LCD at the right angle to get correct colors. Worth noting: It's designed for laptops, where it attaches to the flat back side of the screen (the laptop's top). I'm using it on an LCD connected to a desktop tower. The back of the screen is shaped more like a shallow bowl, so the right-angle gauge wouldn't fit. I e-mailed Acratech to ask if they had any suggestions other than bending the gauge to fit. They responded quickly, and said bending was the best approach. A few seconds with a vise grip and a pair of channel-lock pliers did the trick.

It is only a bit of plastic - yes it is true - but if you are doing photoediting or video editing it is worth its weight in gold.

I switched from Jpeg to RAW several months ago, so I've been doing a lot more work in Photoshop recently. My first few images came out looking less than stellar, that's how I figured out how important screen angle is when color correcting and working with exposure. This thing is so simple I can't believe it works as well as it does. It attaches to any computer screen with Velcro, so it is easy to move between several monitors or desktop to laptop. The only thing that I can find to complain about would be the Velcro patch stuck on the back of my laptop, but I'm a form over function type of guy anyway, so that doesn't bother me.

While I prefer to work in the controlled environment of my office, sometimes that isn't possible and viewing images, let alone developing them in Lightroom or Photoshop, used to get quite frustrating since the slightest adjustment of the angle on my screen changed the appearance of my images. With this simple device, I can quickly see that my laptop screen is showing me the best view of my image and I can work from there. It is simple, but it works.

I saw this in a magazine and checked out B&H. Naturally they had it. For a while I considered making one myself, but never got around to it. So considering the price I just added it to one of my orders. And I'm happy with the results. If you edit photos on a laptop it will make your life easier.
