The Litepanels Half White Diffusion 1x1' Gel is especially designed for the Litepanels 1x1 LED lighting fixture. Diffusion gels soften the edge of a light source by spreading its beam, helping the light to wrap around three-dimensional objects more effectively. The more the beam width increases, the softer the shadow. The intensity of the light is diminished and the color temperature is sometimes affected when the light beam is scattered. Half White diffusion is a popular medium diffuser--there's a moderate softening of the light, without affecting the crispness too much. There's a 3/4-stop loss of light when using a Half White diffusion gel.

LEDs can be a bit harsh sometimes, fix it with this diffussion planel. Gives a soft glow quality to the light.

After trying to improvise a diffusion gel out of traditional fresnel gel sheets, wax paper, stock plastic from the hardware store, you name it, I finally decided to pay for an official Litepanels gel. Well worth it.
The gel is thick and fits the light frame as designed. No hassles. Over priced in my opinion, but the best solution for the job. If you want to tone down the harsh light of a 1x1, especially on your subjects eyes, you should consider this gel.
