I needed something I could pack in a small suitcase, extend to a reasonable height (I'm only 5'6"), could hold a healthy amount of lens (only using a 300 2.8 right now, but I wouldn't hesitate to put a 400 on this), easy to use extension wise and would last a while all at an affordable price. This is the one. The tension release mechanisms really are some of the best I've ever used and I've used a few. I just can't stand lever locks. All in all though this will be perfect for stabilizing and taking some weight off my upper body with long lenses as well as getting some stabilization with video too. Does a nice job of keeping the "organic" handheld look without getting all crazy particularly with longer lenses. Even comes with an odd little cover that I guess doubles as a belt loop attached holster or mount should like to use it that way... I just took mine off and put it in my box of extra parts :)

Works as suppose to - No head

This monopod is simply ok. I personally prefer the clip clamp type rather than screwing clamps, but they do work well. Remember to get the head!

I would give it five stars if the tightening mechanism would be better. Takes a while to tighten. It collapses to a very portable compact size and it is lightweight.

Comments about Induro AM25 Alloy 8M AM-Series Aluminum 5-Section Monopod:

After doing a lof of research on monopods I narrowed my choices to the following:
                          - Manfrotto 680B
                          - Manfrotto 681B
                          - Induro AM24
                          - Induro CM14
                          - Induro AM25
I went to the BH store @34 st to see/feel all of them. I immediately discarted the Manfrottos; they were considerably bulkier and heavier.
My natural choice was the CM14 being that it was carbon fiber. However, after comparing the weight with the aluminum choices I felt the difference was negligible (about 0.40 lb) so I discarted the carbon fiber.
I ended up choosing the AM25 because the folded length is considerable less (16" vs 19"), and the only advantage I could see on the AM24 was the extra 4 lb max load and the extra 2" max height, neither of which I will miss. I use this -monopod with a Canon 7D and mm f/4 USM lens, and exceeds my expectations.
I also own an Induro Adventure AKB Tripod which helped make the desicion easier. The ballhead fits on the monopod and adds a few inches to the total height.
I love the twist release mechanism, even though I thought I wouldn't like it, it is a lot faster than the clamps that other monopods have.

Comments about Induro AM25 Alloy 8M AM-Series Aluminum 5-Section Monopod:

I researched many products before buying this one, and narrowed my search to Manfrotto & Induro. I went to BH superstore to view/feel each of the options I was considering:
                            Manfrotto 680B
                            Manfrotto 681B
                            Induro AM25
                            Induro AM24
                            Induro CM14
I immediately discarted the Manfrottos. They were heavier/bulkier. I was left with the Induro's in aluminum alloy and carbon fiber.
The difference in weight between the aluminum & carbon fiber were negligible for me (only 0.40 lb).
The AM24 is slightly longer when folded than the AM25, although it holds 4 lb more (max 26.4 lb).
I have a 7D with a 70-200mm f/4l IS USM and 22 lbs is more than enough for my needs, so I went for the shorter set up.
Very sturdy, and the twist release mechanism is a lot better than I expected.
I also own an Induro AKB Tripod kit, and the ball head fits perfectly on this monopod.

Comments about Induro AM25 Alloy 8M AM-Series Aluminum 5-Section Monopod:

It is bigger/thicker than I expected but it is OK since I care only about weight and folded size. It is also very sturdy and can take perhaps much heavier load than one rated. Folded dimension is only 16" but fully open is slightly short for me (6'1") and my SLR camera. It can be remedied by installing head but even without it I would rather have this than longer folded size. It comes with wrenches to convert from camera to head thread size.

I use this when shooting "hand held" video with Canon 7D.
I put a Manfrotto 234 tilt monopod head on and topped that with a Manfrotto 577 rapid connect adapter so that I can go from tripod to hand held quickly.

The whole monopod set-up fits into my Pelican 1514 carry-on.

I've going to make one slight adjustment to the monopod - I'm going to put a slightly larger "foot" on the bottom of it - just to add a touch more stability... even without that I have to give it 5 stars. I think it's a great buy.

This is my first monopod and I'm glad I got it. I recently picked up a travel Softbox and needed a monopod for my assistant to hold it. The monopod folds down to a tiny 16" form factor, perfect for travel. I'm 6'1 and combined the monopod with my Sunpak Pistol grip and the aluminium short column from my Benro Travelflat. With this setup, the camera is tall enough for me and my softbox while still being small enough to fit in a camera bag or backpack for travel

I use this for stabilizing my Canon SLR. It's compact, LIGHT, and very stable. I've never owned a monopod before, but I will base any other future purchases on this one.

I like how it's compact, lightweight, and fits nicely in my camera bag. Very happy with the purchase!

This was purchased at B&H in NYC, and I looked at MANY monopods that day - my friendly salesperson directed me to this, which was less expensive, smaller and was better for my needs than some of the others I looked at. I really appreciated that he directed me to something less expensive, so I my dollar could go further!!

                                      Thanks!

I had been wanting a mono pod for a while now an finally decided to go with this one. It's small enough to fit in my backpack and light enough you forget you have it with you, it's sturdy and adjusts to any level I need quickly and easily. Unless your a pro with a HUGE tele lens I would recommend you scoop one of these for your bag.

Use anyplace space is tight or you need to relocate quickly. Helps with telephoto shots, or bursts if you are trying HDR photography. Easily straps to my sling bag, and at 16" is no taller. One drawback is you are limited to landscape mode (altho that does keep the collapsed length down). I have a tilt head I can add to get to portrait mode that also includes a quick release.
