I've never used a comparable ball head from a company like Gitzo or Kirk, so I can't speak as to how this ball head stacks up against those popular brands.

This head is much cheaper than similar heads from other brands, so I was worried about how good it would be. Those worries proved to be unfounded, as this head is sturdy, has a smooth action and is better than I expected all around.

I think this head could hold its own in a head to head (pun intended) comparison to a Gitzo, but for the price I don't think anything on the market can compete with the Induro.

One feature I would like to see is index marks on the tension adjust knob. The similar Benro head (the same company as Induro, I believe) has these.

It's OK. Should have spent more to get a better solution. The Lock and drag knobs are both the same and there is little difference.

The locking plate does not have the safe features I would want to protect my equipment.

I'll keep it as a back-up and keep looking for a better solution for VERY heavy lenses.

            Comments about Induro BHD3 Ballhead:

I used this ballhead to photograph traffic for 1/3 second, giving the traffic a blurred look. I was very happy that the ballhead did not move when I used my camera, and that the parts of my photograph that were supposed to be sharp stayed sharp. It is also easy to use, but what I really like is the solid support the product gave me without the camera moving at all.

I purchased this product after seeing it in an online review. The BHD3 is a quality product that exceeds expectations. Combined with the GHBA Gimbal head, it provides a stable platform that allows you to take your photography to the next level. I would highly recommend it.

Unless you are having a 400 f/2.8, a 500 f/4 lens or bigger, this will work very nicely with your camera gear. I have used this with a Canon 70-200 II on a 2x extender as well as a Canon 100-400 L lens mounted on a gripped 7D with no issues at all. Great value for money and I encourage people to step outside the usual Gitzo/RRS zone to try other gear out.

I find myself using the tripod so much more because of this ballhead. This is a great ballhead at a great price!
At first, I was a bit concerned that this did not rotate as smoothly without a load on it compared to a (smaller) Markins ballhead. But once I put a camera on it, I had absolutely no concerns - I loved the smoothness and precision I get with this ballhead. Makes it so much more fun to use a tripod with this ballhead. I did replace the plate with an RRS L-bracket; the plate is just too small to stabilize a 5d MkII with battery grip; plus the L-bracket adds vertical flexibility and prevents rotation .

I've used Gitzo and Manfrotto heads and I have to say this Induro is just as great...at half the cost! Holds my D300s and 200-400VR Zoom steady and has very smooth action in all directions. I often shoot moving wildlife and the pan on this head is great. The knobs are sizable, sturdy and located in the right places. Overall great product!

                                Comments about Induro BHD3 Ballhead:

The online store showed this ballhead to match with the CT314 CARBON 8X CT SER. 4-SEC TRIPOD that I purchased so I ordered it along with the tripod.
Upon further review, I see that the ballhead supports more weight than the tripod so I possibly could have ordered a smaller version. But, the price difference was so small that I figured I may as well treat myself to the larger one. I like the drag and tension control and panning ability.
The only drawback I can find is the window to show the degrees you have rotated the ballhead is directly under the locking knob, which makes it hard to read.
I like how the ballhead can line up with the tripod and be fixed into place with the included allen wrench.

                                Comments about Induro BHD3 Ballhead:

I miss a cam lever lock/unlock like my previous head had. That was easy to have open/tight and see where you were. This ball with a turn knob always looks the same, so it can be easy to let go of the camera before it is completely locked tight. I'll probably get used to this, but currently find it a bit annoying when I think camera is tight and then see the lens/camera slowly sagging. The ball is certainly capable of being locked tight.

This is the first real ballhead I've ever bought and I'm pretty impressed with it so far. The locks are very good and it keeps my camera incredibly stable, as it should. The controls are easy and the motion of the joint is very smooth. A very good ballhead.

                                    Comments about Induro BHD3 Ballhead:

I understand that Italy is somehow associated with great camera support equipment. Well this Chinese assembled, American designed Ballhead is the exception rather than the rule. While I have not had this item long, what time I have spent with it has been great. Very smooth, very easy to operate, and very well built. I didn't want to spend the huge cash, so I went this route expecting a semi inferior product.. Not the case at all..

                                    Love it!
