The INDURO GHB2 Gimbal Head is ideal for photography involving long, heavy telephoto lenses--in sports or nature photography, for instance. Working with a long lens on a standard ballhead or tilt head can be a real struggle, distracting you from the photography. The gimbal head makes the camera and lens seem almost weightless, with vertical and horizontal tracking of moving objects becoming relatively simple--a feat not possible with any other support system. An Arca-Swiss-compatible quick-release plate is included. Fits size 3 and 4 tripods.

Gravity-balanced operation provides essentially "weightless" movement and positioning for long lens/camera systems

Comments about Induro GHB2 Gimbal Head:

In short, I like this gimbal head. It's quite sturdy, built well. I have an induro tripod and this compliments it well.

There's two tiny nagging things about it that I'm trying to get used too.

The first is that Induro's arcs swiss head and attachment plates do not allow you to slide it out the side. You must fully release the clamp part in order to remove the camera/lens from the mount. I'm just used to being able to do a tiny little twist of the release knob and slide it out the side. I'm sure I'll get used to it soon enough.

The other is how quickly the adjustments on this head lock. I'd like a bit more control from completely free movements to locked down. Once set the tension seems to stay put, so again, just something to get used too i'm sure.

Overall a very nice head to use with any long lens. I used it with the sigma 120-300 f/2.8. It's pretty sweet. Can't wait to try it with my new 600 that's coming shortly.

Comments about Induro GHB2 Gimbal Head:

Outstanding piece of photographic equipment. It is easily every bit as good, if not better, than the equivalent Wimberely head. I would definitely recommend it to anyone seriously interested in purchasing a Gimbal Head for supporting their longer lenses.

Comments about Induro GHB2 Gimbal Head:

I have used a rented Wimberly in the past. I liked it, but looking at the price difference and after reading other reviews I figured I would try the Induro. It's heavy, of course, because it is a solid, well built support platform, but so is the Wimberly. I can't imagine a decent gimbal head that wouldn't be heavy. I found the ability to balance a lens to be very easy - took seconds, literally - and I find the movements to be smooth enough to track birds. One thing I thought would be very useful is the index scale for mounting and balancing lenses. Turns out I don't find it to be necessary. It's easy enough to balance the lens just by eye and by feel. This is a solid, well built product. Is it better than the Wimberly? Don't know. I would need to use them both side by side to answer the question. That, by itself, says that it is a good product. At about $ less than the Wimberly and considering that it includes the long plate and the Wimberly doesn't, I think it is a good value for a quality gimbal head.

Comments about Induro GHB2 Gimbal Head:

This replaces the stolen Wimberly. A little cheaper and a little heavier. I have a Gitzo tripod and an Induro Tripod. Induro works great. The Gimbal head seems to be as good. Long term will tell the build. I would give another star if it were lighter and cheaper yet.

Comments about Induro GHB2 Gimbal Head:

After unsuccessfully trying to photograph sunspots and in preparation for a trip to photograph eagles, I started looking for a Gimbal head that would work with my SLIK 700DX tripod legs and support a Nikon D5300 with a Sigma 1.4 teleconverter and a 150-500 telephoto Sigma zoom lens. There are a number of choices ranging from $ to almost $ – the hard part is deciding what to select. Based on my research and budgetary constraints I opted for the Induro GHB2. From the moment I opened the box, I realized that I had made a good decision. The fit and finish is first rate, from the GHB2 itself to the extra screws for the Arca-Swiss plate (included). The only thing I can slight Induro for is that I personally would like some more guidance on platform adjustment – but that is only a minor issue that experience will figure out. My first use of the GHB2 was this weekend to determine exposure setting thru my solar filter for an upcoming partial solar eclipse. The camera/lens attached easily and it only took a second to move the lens back to balance the platform. Once that was done, it only took a small nudge to move the camera to follow the sun. The GHB2 and the tripod are a solid combination - much better than the 3-axis head I was using before. I can't wait for November when I head to Conowingo Dam to photograph eagles! In the final analysis, would I recommend the GHB2 to a friend? In a heartbeat!

The design and operation work as you would expect for a Gimbal Head. Workmanship is good. There is nothing that feels cheap or poorly made. It is not excessively heavy either. The ARCA clamp works very well. Easy attachment and removal to the Gimbal. You won't be dissatisfied.

I am using it on a Manfrotto 055XPROB with Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS or Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS primarily. The largest/heaviest camera body is an EOS 1D3. These are EASILY supported with full range of motion.

Comments about Induro GHB2 Gimbal Head:

I recently aquired a used Canon 500mm f4 and didn't feel comfortable using my Wimberley Sidekick on a ball head with this lens. I've owned an Induro aluminum tripod for several years and have been very happy with it. So I thought I's give the GHB2 a try. The Induro locks solid and allows me to have peace of mind when carrying my "rig" around. It has a smooth action and locks down tight. I'm very happy with it.

Comments about Induro GHB2 Gimbal Head:

I use the Gimbal Head with my Canon Mark III, 1.4 Extender, and 100 -400 mm push - pull lens on a tripod to shoot wildlife. The Gimbal Head is well made, easy to assemble, attach to the tripod, adjust, and once the camera with lens has been attached and balanced provides the stability I was looking for, plus a large, smooth range of motion . . . As advertised! If there is a con, it is on the heavier side, so won't be walking around too much with the whole setup.

Comments about Induro GHB2 Gimbal Head:

This is beautiful Gimbal head, exquisitely manufactured. The locks work well, Arca Swiss mount is great, but it has one small drawback. The swing arm has a small amount of friction when the lock is fully released. When a 15 pound camera rig, Nikon D4 and 400mm f/2.8 are mounted on this head, it is not really an issue, but the camera will not self level even if fully balanced do to this friction. My guess is the bearings are sleeve type and not roller bearings which would be smoother. But at this price...I would not consider any other gimbal head.

Comments about Induro GHB2 Gimbal Head:

Excellent movement and the lens & camera really do feel weightless. Therelease plate is good and allows a tight fit to my Canon 400mm and allows for easy movement, most importantly it feels secure.I've only been using it a week but don't know how I'd got by before having it.I would recommend getting a second/third plate so you can swap lenses/cameras easier although they are $ it's worth every penny. All round excellent build quality.

Comments about Induro GHB2 Gimbal Head:

I recently purchased the Canon 500 mm II lens and tried to use a Sidekick which did not allow easy panning. I returned the Sidekick to B&H and purchased the GHB2 Gimbal Head and it works like a champ. My only complaint is the weight - I wish it were a bit lighter.
