  • Locking Universal Shoe Mount
  • Umbrella Receptacle
  • 2 Adapter Studs

The Impact Umbrella Bracket with Adjustable Shoe is a versatile, lightweight metal bracket that will fit on almost any light stand. It includes a removable, reversible female stud to adapt to light stands with top studs smaller than the standard 5/8". An additional removable, reversible male stud mounts to the included flash shoe at the 1/4"-20 end, or to another accessory at the 3/8" end. The metal shoe features a knurled locking knob for secure mounting of all standard shoe-mount flashes, including the Nikon SB-900 and SB-910.

A receptacle with its own locking knob accommodates an umbrella which may be tilted to the angle of your choice via the bracket's locking joint.

Two Removable Studs
The provided studs can be removed from the interior of the bracket by totally loosening the wing knobs and letting them slide out. These studs can be used to mount the bracket to a 1/4"-20 (standard) and 3/8" threaded stand or tripod tops. One stud is used for the flash shoe. The shoe may be unscrewed from this stud.

I decided it was time to put my SB-800 flash to better, more effective use when doing outdoor shooting, so I bought an Impact soft box (24" square) and needed an attachment that would be strong, reliable and easy to use. I use this on my 8' light stand with radio triggers, flash and a 30" softbox/umbrella. I like the fact that it can be used for both umbrella or softbox by putting in or removing the stud/cold-shoe on top. This has worked fine with the softbox so far, but it feels like it's being slightly overextended as far as the weight load goes, and this is just with a camera flash. I always make doubly sure that the tilt adjustment screw is as tight as possible because it feels like it could slip.

This is not as big of an issue with the much lighter umbrella; however, the way I have my flash set up (radio trigger slots into the cold-shoe on top of the bracket, and then my flash slots on top of the trigger) means that the flash head points nowhere near the center of the umbrella; at best, it points halfway between the center and the outer rim of the umbrella, even when the flash itself is set to the -7 degree tilt angle. This may just be a result of my particular setup, but it would be nice to have some control over the angle of the umbrella independently of the angle of the bracket itself.

This will work fine for now, and may be ideal for other setups, but I am looking into a stockier, beefier bracket with some form of independent umbrella angle adjustment. I think these factors would outweigh the convenience of this bracket's adaptability as far as connectivity are concerned.

Comments about Impact Umbrella Bracket with Adjustable Shoe:

This mount works well, but you have to tighten the shoe down really well to be sure the flash won't fall out. The knob is kind of small to get it tight enough. Other than that, it works great...And, the umbrella mount slants slightly upward pointing the flash to the center, like it should!

I've used this product a handful of times with my 600EX-RT canon flash and an Impact 45" umbrella. The combination works as expected. Product is easy to use. I haven't had any of the issues with the flash bracket loosening up as other reviewers have mentioned.

I use this product with Impact Air Cushioned Light Stand and it works perfectly. It is very secure in holding my flash and umbrella. At first the flash bracket worried me, but after some jar tests I was carrying it around with the flash attached with no worried.

These sturdy brackets are made of metal and very strong. I rely on them to hang LED lights overhead and they do a fantastic job at that. the lockoffs hold well and the joint has a ridged system which helps it stay in place without having to really tension it down too much.

Comments about Impact Umbrella Bracket with Adjustable Shoe:

I bought this to hold my speedlight on a lightstand. The umbrella bracket has done well so far. My only concern is the shoe mount that attaches to the stud comes loose very easily. Since the threaded screw that attachs the stud to the shoe mount is very short I would recommend checking to ensure it's tight especially if you move around your lightstand frequently. I had seen other comments about the cold shoe not holding the speedlights very well. I use a Canon 580EX II and have had no issues with the shoe mount gripping the speedlight. This bracket is very versatile, works well, and is very well priced.

It is easy to operate, and with both the adjustable shoe and umbrella slot, serves several purposes. I'd recommend this item for use in supporting light-weight gear. Make sure to secure knobs or it will get wobbly.

This is a pretty good umbrella bracket that has a really good price. It feel a little cheaper than other brackets including the Westcott Umbrella bracket but I really like the feature that allows you to place it horizontally on a light stand adding additional functionality to it. Would buy again.
