The EW-83K Lens Hood is primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the Canon 24mm f/1.4L II USM lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. In addition, since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact.

The "petal" shape of this lens hood maximizes the amount of hood coverage for the minimum amount of weight and hood area. This dedicated lens hood is designed to match the specific focal length of the Canon 24mm f/1.4L II USM lens.

Well made, does the job. Protects from flare, rain, bumping into things, etc. Had to buy a new one cause I lost the original hood.

Comments about EW-83K Lens Hood for Canon 24mm f/1.4L II USM Lens:

This is an identical copy of the lens hood that came with the 24 f/1.4 II. These things are engineered well, so there is no indication of the hood on the front of the lens, thereby causing any additional vignetting yet it reduces flare.

The lens hood on my 24mm f/1.4 works well and prevents getting lens flare. I love it!
