The Bose L1 Compact Audio PA System delivers the audio fidelity expected from Bose in a sleek, lightweight and portable unit that's ideally suited for travelling musicians, presenters, mobile DJs, and for lectures, worship, etc.
The L1 features a 2-channel mixer amplifier that also serves as the speaker's base. The mixer features an XLR microphone input, RCA line input, 1/8" mini line input and 1/4" phone input that may be switched to accept line or instrument signals.
Six small drivers are carefully positioned into the compact speaker to ensure balanced audio signal at the direct and off-axis (sides) of the L1. Setting up the L1 is quick and easy; simply place the speaker extensions into the amplifier base, and slide the speaker on top of the extensions. Two extensions are included, and allow easy height adjustment.

Comments about Bose L1 Portable Line Array PA Speaker and Mixer System:
My business is in a 15,000 sqft helicopter hangar and we wanted to be able to play music and after hours and on weekends. We haven't even turned the volume above the 1/4 of the way up and its already loud enough for the space. When we turn it up 1/2 of the way (which is rediculously loud) the sound is perfection. The bass moves your skin and the highs are perfect. The mids are as deistinguishable as when the volume as at 1/4. It looks great. It assembles in seconds. Its more expensive...but I already know I got my money's worth.

Comments about Bose L1 Portable Line Array PA Speaker and Mixer System:
I work at a church and picked up 2 of these babies to use in a smaller worship service and on mission trips. I had my hesitations about spending this much money on a system when I could get something else for much cheaper. However, I know now that this was the right decision. Church staff members... this is a great sound system to get! Easy for your volunteers to set up, and the sound the comes from it is clear and plenty loud enough.
Great product.

Comments about Bose L1 Portable Line Array PA Speaker and Mixer System:
We use one or two of those for stand up comedy shows. They are fantastic. Sound is amazing we get complements from the comics all the time especially the musical comics who enjoy having nice sound for a change. You can't beat there portability and easy setup. Putting on the shows is stressful enough, these take a lot of the stress off.

Comments about Bose L1 Portable Line Array PA Speaker and Mixer System:
Our church was modifying some space for use as a Student classroom and warehouse style worship space. This single system is so powerful and the sound great that we are going to use it on retreats and other venues where we need the added 'umph' of powered sound. It our permanent system in the room and is fine for speaking and music engagements of a hundred or more. And at 27 lbs without extra poles to lug around, this is the best actually portable system on the market. I've used the dual 35lb portable systems before and this is much louder, much higher quality, & lighter. It's more expensive but will pay for itself in ease, quality, and lack of chiropractic visits in no time. One Caveat, it does not use XLR to connect to a sound mixer so plan on 1/4 jacks and they do the job great.

Comments about Bose L1 Portable Line Array PA Speaker and Mixer System:
I bought two L1 compact systems to use as a stereo pair for small gigs. I plug in a mixer to the instrument channel (Tonematch off) so I can get several vocalists, guitars and keyboards into them.
They are impressively loud and their coverage is as advertised. Their setup time and portability is amazing and the look of the stage is greatly improved now that wedges and big mains on stands are not needed.
After a week of gigs with them my only gripe is their heavily "scooped" sound. The sub pumps out enough lows to make plosives apparent and acoustic guitar resonance an issue and the top end is clear and bright, but there is not much "body" to the sound ie the low mids are under-represented in favor of high mid and treble punch. I think I'll end up pre-eq-ing the sound at my mixer to compensate so that may help. Maybe it's years of playing through muddy systems where low mids are about all that's there that these seem so scooped but the evenness of frequency response of the Bose towers is not really ideal.
Of course I'm not really using them for what they were designed for: acoustic guitar and one vocal mic, no effects.

I reserved final judgment until I used the L1 in a gig situation. Nord stage grand and piano accordion. I normally use a Leslie spinner. Firstly the obvious .. it's lighter and more compact than a Leslie. Secondly .. this is the first gig situation where the other musicians on stage have actually heard me clearly. There was just enough head room at 3/4 volume to cut through with an incredibly powerful sound. I'm buying another one for stereo Leslie effect, plus, if we all used these, we wouldn't need "Feedback Jack" on front of house .. joking Jack.

Comments about Bose L1 Portable Line Array PA Speaker and Mixer System:
Almost all good things to say.
Easy to set up and use. Easily fills a 40' x 40' room with crisp clear voice when used as a PA.
Controls are easy & intuitive ..... the only thing wrong is the on/off switch is all the way down just 1" off the floor on the back of the unit so you have to get down on hands & knees to turn it on/off ..... inconvenient to say the least. All other controls are right on top.
We used one of the two inputs for a presenter's mic and connected the other to the sound output of a laptop computer so we could have soundtrack and live voice-over.
Overall, very pleased with the sound quality and ease of use.

Comments about Bose L1 Portable Line Array PA Speaker and Mixer System:
I really like the L1 compact. It reproduces vocals in a very natural way and has all the power I need for small to medium gigs. In larger gigs it still works, as a monitor and support for the main PA, you just send a line to the PA with your sound.
Very easy to move around and set up.
It can be somewhat limited in functionality for some people that might need more power and several of these for a band gets expensive.
But the idea of having your sounds come from the physical placement of each musician is a very natural way to perceive music. A great idea.
It won't take the place of a good guitar amp or especially a bass amp, but for other instruments that usually just go direct to PA or vocals, it's fantastic.
