I discovered this paper literally by accident, when I saw some images in the Canson/Infinity booth at a photographic conference. Being old enough to be from the old school of the chemical darkroom and remembering what the old school B&W papers like Agfa, Ilford Gallerie and others were like, I always had a preference for the baryta or baryta-like "fiber" inkjet papers that have become popular in the past few years. Primarily I print on Epson Exhibition Fiber with an Epson 3800 but was looking for a secondary paper that had similar qualities but without being quite as bright - there are times the high and slightly bluish white point of the EEF paper doesn't work with an image, and I had tried the usual contenders such as Hahnemuhle Fine Art Baryta, Ilford Gold Fiber Silk, plus the Harman and Moab/Colorado Fiber papers. While I generally liked the results from the Hahnemuhle papers (but had curling problems) and tolerated the somewhat flat looking Ilford papers, the others didn't suit my tastes and my quest was up to this point unsatisfied. What I saw, and then subsequently discovered when I began printing with, the Canson Baryta paper is a tremendous black, and a wonderful tonal quality seemingly centered in the tonal area where skintones are presented. For some reason this paper loves skin - I don't think there is a better paper made for B&W portraiture, B&W figure work or most anything else involving people. Also an excellent choice for B&W landscape. I'm not quite as sold on it for color work, but for B&W, it is simply the best there is if you shoot people.

Technically it has a bit of OBA but not as much, I don't think, as the Epson, and it has a slightly warmer cast to it (the Epson EEF tends to run slightly cool in comparison), and the dMin (maximum white) is not quite as bright as the Epson but still better than a lot of papers. Metamerically it's pretty good - it does show slightly more metamerism in differing light sources than the Epson EEF but it's nowhere near the level where I would consider it a problem. Overall it's tremendous blacks, incredible sense of dimension and depth and wonderful ability to make human skin look real in a B&W print is the reason to own this paper.

I like the weight of this paper, but getting colors rights has been a challenge -- using both the paper's icc profile and other options. They tout this paper for B&W, and maybe I should only look to it for that.

For Black and White Fine Art prints, Canson Baryta papers are unsurpassed, in my experience. Only Canson gives me the deepest, well-separated dark tones while providing shadow detail that is contrasty and well-defined. For color, this paper surpasses my finest Epson papers, providing color realism with high saturation.

Canson Baryta has become my go-to paper. I find that I'm able to get excellent color density and blacks. Canson's profile for my Epson R3000 printer does a great job, too, so I'm getting dazzling results without a custom profile and without much tweaking. I see that many users praise the Baryta for B&W, but I'm almost completely a color guy, and this paper has been great. I wish it came in a slightly heavier/stiffer weight, but otherwise, I couldn't be happier.

This is terrific paper when I print with my Epson 3880 printer. Its smooth semi-glossy surface is great for color or black and white images. I live outside the continental US so I do not get free shipping when I order this product. Because of this it is about 3 times the cost of Epson Semi-gloss per piece. The Epson paper is good for every day use, but the Canson paper is much better-brighter whites, heavier weight, and a cleaner surface.

I have been trying all sorts of paper recently including Epson Fiber for my B&W prints, I have to say this is so far the best I have ever used. In my opinion, I thought the EFP would be hard to beat but this is just so sweet I would have to say the EFP is now my second fav.. I love this Canson period... The blacks are so deep and rich, nice weight - though I wish it was a bit heavier. Whites are just right.

It looks like this is be my paper going forward unless there is something better.

Used to print on two Epsom printers, 3000 and 3880. Quality prints on both. But could have been a bit brighter.

Customer service superb. Called ahead of time and this neophyte printer person got some great advice about making sure that I used the ICC profile.

Have tried variety of current sheets, but finally settled on Canson Baryta Photographic. Its native color is neutral to slightly off-white. Comparing an image printed on Baryta Photographique and 2 of the popular premium sheets, I find that the Baryta seems to have greater depth and sharper detail resolution. After what I've spent on my camera gear, photography trips, post processing software and my printer, I wouldn't cut corners on the paper that renders what all that expensive other stuff is all about and that's why I use Canson Baryta Photographique.

          Comments about Canson Infinity 2273 Baryta Photographique Inkjet Paper (310 gsm) 13 x 19" / 25 Sheets:

I really wanted to love this paper. Instead, I like it. It's very sharp (with a nice surface) and has a wide color gamut. My biggest issue is the warping. On heavily saturated images (even when printed at 1440), the paper does tend to curl (not lay flat) after printing (which doesn't happen on my Epson Exhibition Fiber paper).

While proper matte mounting is key, this could cause some framed viewing issues (when looking at the image from an angle).

Also, the surface is rather fragile. Even tissue paper causes marks on the ink surface (in dense ink areas). But I suppose that's just the nature of a Baryta surface.

I still like the paper, although Exhibition Fiber will always be my go-to choice.

          Comments about Canson Infinity 2273 Baryta Photographique Inkjet Paper (310 gsm) 13 x 19" / 25 Sheets:

I bought my Epson Stylus Pro 3880 specifically for making black and white prints on Epson Exhibition Fiber paper in sizes up to 17x24. There was a problem. The printer rollers/aka pizza wheels left tracks in the black ink. Unacceptable. After weeks of exchanging printers and unhelpful answers from Epson, I gave up on Exhibition Fiber paper. The problem was not identified by Epson even though it was widely experienced by their customers. I kept the printer and started using resin coated satin finish paper, both Epson semi-gloss and R.R. UltraPro satin. Neither are 100% acid free, therefore not archival. But no pizza wheel marks show on these papers. R.R. recently brought out a baryta paper and along with it, a technical document about using fiber paper with the Epson 3880. The pizza wheel mark problem is due to the UltraChrome k-3 ink not drying before hitting the rollers. Why Epson never knew this is beyond belief.

So I ordered a sample of RR baryta and I also read reviews and ordered a 10-pack of Canson Baryta Photographique from B&H. I tested both using custom print speed, paper thickness, ink density settings. The RR paper performed poorly in all tests, blacks were grey and even at lowest/density speed settings, still left pizza wheel marks. The Canson paper looked great, better blacks than even the satin RC papers and ,at the very slowest speed and lower ink density--no pizza wheel marks! I'm about to print a portfolio on the 25 13x19 sheets I bought. Haven't tried color but black and white looks great. Every fiber/baryta paper I've tried has a delicate, easy to scratch, surface. Canson is no exception. Must be handled with extreme care. I haven't yet tried spraying with Hahnemuhle protective coat, but this will probably be needed. More hassle and more expense. BUT I finally have an archival option for the 3880. The down side is, at the slowest print speed, it takes FOREVER.

I've been printing on Epson 3880 at a school lab and the pictures look great.
I've noticed also the time of printing is quite fast even for a 17x22"

This baryta paper offers a very wide gamut of vibrant colors and a rich intense black. Sharpness is outstanding and equal to the best matte papers. The tone is just warm, although many would consider it neutral. The unique feature of this paper is its smooth and truly uniform finish that reflects a beautiful luster.
Its wide gamut and powerful blacks make Baryta Photographique my only choice for B&W... Leica Monochrom images printed with Epson R3000 on this paper are remarkable, as they should be!

It holds a great range of values which reminds me a fiber-based darkroom print. It has a nice thick, fine-art weight to it as well! I would definitely recommend using this to make digital prints of any photograph!

                Comments about Canson Infinity 2273 Baryta Photographique Inkjet Paper (310 gsm) 13 x 19" / 25 Sheets:

I print using a Epson 3880 and 7880 and on my 7880 I now use the Piezography K7 Warm Neutral inks. I say this because I have used the Canson Baryta Photographique for well over a year now and with the Epson inks I was so very pleased with this paper.

Now that I use the Piezography inks the Canson Baryta papers on my 7880 I am stunned as to the quality I am able to get. The Canson paper in my opinion is sharp, the perfect brightness, great tonality and the perfect weight.

To be fair I have not printed color on this paper, simply because I am pleased with what I am getting with the Epson Exhibition fiber and Hot Press Bright papers on my 3880. I have tried them all from Hahnemühle to Ilford and everything in-between and I settled on the Canon because it is the perfect balance in all the areas that matter to me. The "tooth" of the paper is not so in your face like Museo and Hahnemühle and that really matters to me.

If you are looking to do museum quality inkjet printing I cannot say enough about the quality of this paper. I am not switching anytime soon that much I am promise you!

The good: I love the finish and the way it takes Epson 3880 inks is flawless. Image tone is good (except for sepia...doesn't do sepia all that well). The printer handles the paper without any issues and it stays nice and flat even after drying.

The bad: I don't care for the weight. It could stand to be a little lighter. Then again, there will be those who like it just for that reason.

The ugly: Man this stuff is expensive. Use it just for your good stuff.

I love this paper, especially for black and white printing, but it's great all around. Nice warmth and depth to the images I print on it.
