After 3 years on line, only interrupted by power outages my old Netgear router died (power supply problem I think). I replaced it with this router only based on how well the last Netgear router worked. This router does have a better signal and is faster. I have it installed on the 1st floor of the house due to cable modem constraints, it works perfect on 2nd floor (living area) and 3rd floor (bedrooms). If you are reading this review you are overqualified to set up this router it is completely simple. This router checks and if needed updates its firmware every time you log on to Netgear using the hardwired computer. Very nice feature if I can remember to log on every month or so. I do not use the usb storage and could have gotten a slightly less expensive router made by another maker but dependability is really the most important function to me.

Just replaced my 5 years old Linksys to improve my home network,(Netgear specs says it has 8 internal antennas) 2 level house I using laptop on lower level (Netgear router on the upper) so far I have more drop out from net on my laptop than before, internet TV service did not improve even I bought another piece of equipment from NETGEAR XAVB5001 Powerline AV 500 Adapter Kit ($150) and connect it through the router, before I used wireless connection and it was about the same speed and quality so at this point it just a waste of money If you don't have equipment that can able to receive 5GHZ signal which is quite rare at this point time don't bother. My old Linksys did the same job but for about $50 or$60

Comments about Netgear Rangemax Dual Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router:

I followed the simple instructions explicitly and the installation worked from the get go. The 'genie' made renaming the SSID name and putting in new passwords very easy for the password protected access, the high speed password protected access and for establishing a guest capability.

I did have problems logging onto a Netgear range extender to be used with my new SSID name and password, I called for help, got it, and everything works well now.

This really outperforms my 13 year old router and I specially note the snappy performance of my PC with the Ethernet connection.

      I am very pleased.

Comments about Netgear Rangemax Dual Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router:

I've run the same old router for many years - ever since I only had a single computer connected to it. Setting up security was always a nightmare, and it became more and more unreliable as we kept adding devices (iphone, ipodTouch, Smart TVs, 3 laptops, WII, XBOX, etc). I had this Netgear router up and running and connected to every device in the house within 30 minutes. Can't believe how easy it is to set up a secured network now. This unit seems to handle everything without a single hiccup, and the USB storage option is nice too.

I was hoping to relace an older router. The Device worked for that change. I was able to setit up before i added it to the grater network. So far it has a constant up time. and there does not seem to be any issues.

only down side... was the Boot times... it takes about 2 minutes before the device is up and running. kinda slow on power cycle. I almost though it was broken before the lights came up.

This product worked great for less than a month. It just suddenly stopped working. The customer service dept. tried their best to help revive the dead product before concluding it was a hardware problem. They agreed to replace it,but I had to pay shipping to return the broken product before they would send a replacement.
I probably wouldn't buy another one of their products.

I unhooked my Verizon Router and plugged the inputs into the Rangemax got even better download and upload WAN speeds. The WiFi was much improved, especially with the capability to select bandwidth (1-11) on the lower 2.4GHz which cleared interference and sped that frequency up. The 5GHz can be isolated to hi speed video and gaming without any pull on the 2.4Ghz frequency. What an improvement! To top it off the security settings are excellent.

I haven't been able to test all I want, but the WiFi functionality is great. The signal reaches farther than my other access points, so it covers the house better. The only problem I have is figuring out how to enable AP mode. When I enable this option, I lose the management connection, and clients can't get IP addresses. The documentation does not mention anything about configuring AP mode. The feature isn't even mentioned. This is why I say it's easy to configure for the most part, but hard to configure this feature.Bridge mode uses only WEP for AP to AP connections. That's bad.I haven't been able to test attached storage, or DLNA for that matter.

PROS: Set up in my basement, delivers speeds up to what was promised by my service provider, (using Comcast cable). Multiple devices connected, two smart phones, laptop, tablet, and google T.V. at any given time. Dual-band works great, have the T.V. connected to the 5gHz band, and the rest to 2.4. Have an external hard drive connected to the USB and can access it from my laptop anytime. CONS: Was very disappointed in Netgear's product support though. Little to no documentation with the product, and the website was poorly designed and did not answer easily or at all some of the questions I had regarding the product.

Comments about Netgear Rangemax Dual Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router:

I had been renting a wireless router from our cable company and, although it was fine for our laptops and Roku device, it always dropped the connection for our iPhones and iPad after a few minutes.

I finally decided to buy a decent router, did some research and came across this one. I was looking for a few specific features:
                      * a signal that would be strong enough to reach from our basement to our second story
                      * a guest network option so that friends and family can get online without accessing other devices on the house network
                      * fast

The setup was fast, easy, and straightforward. With the router still in the basement, my iPad (which never loses the signal anymore with this router) can get full signal on the second floor. Creating the guest network was very simple, too.

My favorite feature is that I was able to (easily) create a 5.0 GHz network with a speed of 300 mbs, a 2.4 GHz network with a speed of 145 mbs, and a separate guest network.

For setting up a home network (which I was doing) I really like this router. I think I would get something a little higher up on the food chain, though, if I was building a network for a small office.

Comments about Netgear Rangemax Dual Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router:

I am a medium duty internet user in need to upgrade my router to N. After a disappointing experience with the Asus N56U (no VPN), on recommendation of our IT guys, I switched to the WNDR3700. This is a great router: easy to set up, true dual band,VPN supported, reliable and fast. Guest access is easy to set up, and Netgear's parental controls work (although slightly cumbersome to bypass for the parents). This is a great all round router.

Comments about Netgear Rangemax Dual Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router:

I bought the Netgear N600 dual band router to replace an old only g router, because my home network is growing. I have my desktop computer wired on and also my laptop, my TV and my PS3 hooked up to the network.

First of all, the router exterior design is elegant, sleek and futuristic, especially when installed on the vertical stand that comes included with it. But I did not bought it for that reason.

I bought it because it offers 300 Mbps for each two independent 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wireless bands, which reduces network congestion, along with 4 Gigabit wired links, jumbo frames support and USB NAS support.

The router is a beast! The setup menu offers extensive options, like full QoS support and customizations, remote management and HD video steaming optimizations. Also, after some security tests, the integrated hardware firewall is very effective.

The setup is extremely easy, it took me less than 10 minutes to get it installed and working. Also, the router supports WAP authentication button setup for the wireless devices that supports it.

The only thing I'm not happy with is that the integrated DLNA media server used to stream contents from the USB drive attached is not working with the latest firmware version (V3).

I would recommend this product to anyone who as a big home network and do not want it to be slow and clogged.

Good router. Works like it is supposed to. Hope it lasts as long as my last D-Link DI-604 non-wireless router which I've had for at least 10 years and only replaced for wireless capability. Right now this is more router than I need but I'm hoping my band width will grow into it.

This piece of gear replaces and old but reliable wifi router (MN-700). Setup was very easy and the flexability is fantastic. I really enjoy being able to setup Qos and having two seperate radios for traffic dedication. I haven't used it yet but the readyshare option is something else that really turned me on to this unit.
