Ikelite made this a clear sealed door that you can see the actual seal being made as you tighten the door down. Save yourself alot of problems and don't apply silcone to this seal. When the seal wears out just buy the new door. As a matter of fact buy a couple for back ups as they'll come in handy and the door comes with the "O" ring installed. If you ever tried to replace this seal on the older doors and keep the "O" ring in the slot then you'll know what I mean. There is nothing I can find wrong with this door. This door is worth every penny but use a quarter to open and close the door, not just your thumb and forefinger. "Keep breathing" and thanks B&H for carrying this Item!
