The Skylight 1-A filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. This filter helps to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provides additional protection in case of drops or situations where abrasions could occur.

I bought it to protect my lens. It does that without deminishing the IQ. That's what it's supposed to do.

A skylight filter is essential for every lens. I bought this for the Pentax Q 8mm lens.

Using on a Jupiter 50mm as a lens cap, because as an SLR shooter I was constantly forgetting to remove the cap from my rangefinder. I also like a slight warming in many of my photos. The machining is on par with any low-to-mid priced filters. The price was quite low. I didn't want to spend much since the odd size doesn't fit any of my other lenses. No complaints.

Comments about Konica Minolta 40.5mm Skylight (1B) Glass Filter:

I have a newly overhauled Zeiss Super Ikonta C.
It has a 40.5mm thread around the lens mount which allows filters to be screwed on backwards (i.e. front filter thread goes up against the lens). Unfortunately, the space between the lens and the door is very narrow. I tried various brands of UV filters - Hoya HMC, B+W MRC, Heliopan SH-PMC. All of these had too much rear thread hanging out. This prevented the camera from folding, as they hit the inside of the door.

Luckily, this Konica Minolta sky filter is just thin enough that it can be permanently kept on my Super Ikonta C. With the lens set to infinity, it clears the inside of the door to allow folding up of the camera with the filter mounted. So far, it's been the only filter that I've found that can do this.

It is a nicely made filter. It appears to be single coated on each side. The price is also very, very reasonable.

Comments about Konica Minolta 40.5mm Skylight (1B) Glass Filter:

There's not much to say about a skylight filter. This one fits the camera properly, protects the lens and seems to do its job of filtering the haze. Does not add any reflections or distortions of its own. That's what a skylight filter is supposed to do. It appears as well to be well-made, not that it will be subject to rough use. And it's reasonably-priced compared to others of its type.

This is an odd size; so order one with your OEM kit lens when buying an Olympus EP-1 or EPL-1 with the kit lens. Protect your lens!

I bought this filter for my Olympus mZuiko 14-42mm lens because it was listed as an accessory for this lens. I found that it is vignetting at the wide-angle end of the zoom. I am no longer using it.
