I used a hefty amount of double-sided clear tape even for the hood just to make sure that the neoprene cover doesn't move since I'm always on the move. Granted, there's not really much to cover for the 18-200 VRII because of the modular and non-unibody design. Four separate pieces of protection won't really work together seamlessly, which is why I used the tape. If your shooting style calls for a lot of lens gripping, then these definitely won't stay in place, especially the innermost cover, which protects an uneven, angled surface which will give it the tendency to move to the smaller diameter area. To keep that particular cover from ripping apart is a tiny strip of neoprene just beside the M/A and VR switches. After two years of heavy use it still hasn't ripped, but it has definitely frayed. If you are a bit creative, you can try making your own neoprene cover and add a stapled strip to the focusing ring--this will definitely help keep more dust from entering the housing.

I used the LensCoat on a Nikon 18-200mm, 3.5-5.6 DX lens. The problem is to make a cover that doesn't doesn't interfere with the zoom and focus rings and still cover the lens. I don't think anyone could do a better job. The first cover fits the zoom ring just fine. The 2nd cover you have to fuss with to not interfere with the focus ring. The cover closes to the camera body has the most fit problems. It has to have a big hole in it for the switches. Around the hole is a thin as you can get and not have it break. So either you cover part of the focus ring or the switches. If you use the focus you will soon remove this last cover. This is a tough lens to cover.
