The design is well thought off; the ball joint on the foot is a great feature which is helpful in maintaining stability no matter what the surface. Extremely strong and lightweight and the legs do not rotate which makes for quick extension and locking into place. With the reasonable price, this is one of the best built monopods for the money.

I also have the ABH230 head which is fantastic; the quick release allows me to shift from monopod to hand held in an instant, which make it a great feature to have. I use this mainly for nature and sports photography with my Nikon D300s.

I also use this with a Sony Camcorder recording the swim competitions of my granddaughter. As you can imagine those cramped pool bleacher seats do not have enough space for a tripod, thus this really comes in handy.

In short, I am very happy with this monopod and strongly recommend it to others.

Bought this tohold my old Pentax 6x7 film camera and hike a little in New Mwxico. The pod and head are niely made but no matter how much I tightened the the controls, the camera slipped down to an unusable position. The weight was too much. also the quick release adpater wouldn't stay tight so I envetually took it all off and used the pod as a walking stick. Not sure if it would be better for a long lens on 35mm either with the amount of slippage. Best to treat the weight holding statements as optimistic.

Comments about Vanguard Elite CP-324 Monopod:

Would give this 5 stars if it came with a basic swivel head, if not a ball head mount. Otherwise, lightweight, solid, and perfect for my OMD EM5. I added a Benro B0 ballhead that works great, and love this for its role as a low cost "steady guide" when shooting video too (using it in my hand, not extended, to help with pans)

Comments about Vanguard Elite CP-324 Monopod:

Very lightweight, carbon is great quality. It's sturdy, and quick to set up. The overall construction of this unit is excellent. I bought a PH-10 Vanguard Tilting Head to go along with this monopod. I am very satisfied.

Comments about Vanguard Elite CP-324 Monopod:

I have a 40D + battery pack and 100-400L lens so I needed a robust heavy duty monopod that was not too heavy to clip onto to my camera backpack. The CP-324 meets all of these requirements. A wrist strap that actually works, carbiner for clipping onto things and the innovative foot/spike are an added bonus. Something that is not obvious in the product writeups, one twist of the hand releases all the sections to extend the monopod, you don't have to play piano with clips !

Comments about Vanguard Elite CP-324 Monopod:

I bought this monopod to replace a $39 Giottos 8280 monopod with non-detachable head. I could never get the head to sit straight with my old monopod and many of the photos I took with it were tilted 1-3 degrees. The Elite CP-324 monopod with attached SBH-250 ballhead solved this problem for me. The monopod extends quickly and has a nifty foot piece that makes contact with the ground. It has a nice fit and finish to it - it is a beautiful product.
