The VisibleDust EZ Sensor Cleaning Kit with Smear Away contains a 1ml bottle of Smear Away and 4 green 1.0x Vswab. It is a designed to clean the hardest lubricant or oil stains. It cleans a digital camera sensor up to 24mm and has a strong anti fog capability. It removes the smear on the first swipe. It has an anti-scratch component that prevents contaminants from scratching the sensor while cleaning. The very strong lubricant and oil remover removes the toughest stain and is a non-flammable and non-alcoholic, pollen remover.

- The VisibleDust sensor cleaning solutions and swabs are calibrated to work together to produce optimal and safe results. Please do not use alternative solutions with this swab. A simple grain of quartz which is found in cheaper solutions is enough to produce an expensive scratch on the low pass filter. These solutions are manufactured to the highest standard of quality that is practiced in pharmaceutical industries.

To reduce friction by being moist all times during swabbing - The potential risk of fast evaporative solutions used as sensor cleaning is the following:
An increase in the risk of damage and stress to sensor coating by using premature dry swab
A great reduction in cleaning power by shortening the contact time between contaminants and solution due to the increased evaporation rate of the solution
An increase in friction by using a premature drying swab, resulting in static charge build up leading to an even greater dust accumulation on the sensor - These cleaning liquids are intended to be placed on the swab first, so the concern for liquid seeping through the sensor is not valid or accurate. On the other hand, the disadvantages of a generic brand for fast evaporative liquid used for sensor cleaning may in fact cause damage to the sensor by requiring repeat swabbing and is not recommended.

The product is easy to use—just add some of the fluid to the swabs and swipe your sensor. It removes dust and other junk off your sensor and the fluid doesn't streak if you're careful during cleaning.

I have a new D800 (which I'm crazy about). I noticed some spots and thinking that a wet cleaner was the way to go, I purchased Visible Dust's "Sensor Clean" cleaner with green swabs. Imagine my horror that instead of a clean sensor I had a big ugly smear on it -- even after using all four swabs with the appropriate amount of "Sensor Clean" fluid on them! Taking a chance, I immediately ordered the Smear Away kit (also from Visible Dust). After just two swipes with the green swabs + "Smear Away" I had a spotless sensor back. Lesson to learn: with brand-new cameras that might have oil/grease spots on the sensor, don't use "Sensor Clean" initially as it just can't cope with the oil/grease drops. Instead use "Smear Away" which does the job precisely. My hope is that eventually the drops of oil/grease just stop happening and then I can go back to just removing the occassional dust spot.

I ordered this to get rid of what I believed was grease spot on my dSLR sensor (more accurately, the low pass filter in front of the filter). I first tried using LensPen's SensorKlear II. While it was effective in getting all the dust out, and even reducing the grease smudge, it didn't get the spot completely out. Not wanting to repeatedly scrub the low pass filter, I went ahead and used this wet method. It got rid of everything in just one pass. It left a tiny streak (or was it a fiber from the swab?) but I used the SensorKlear II to get that. And just like that my sensor was spotless.
Given the tiny opening in the bottle, it is difficult to get the drops out. I just ended up gently touching the opening with the two corners of the swab and the swab soaked just the right amount of the solution.
One other note on the swab. It seems to have been sized for a full frame camera, so you won't be able to sweep from side to side if you have a dx sensor like I do. But just sweep the sensor from top to bottom and the thing works wonderfully.

I've used my Arctic Butterfly for some time to clean my sensor but lately I had some spots that weren't coming off and it was getting worse. I had hoped I'd never have to do a wet cleaning because it seemed like that was more risky. I tried this little kit first to see how it would work and how long it would last. It was easy. There weren't even many instructions. The spots are gone!

Had something on my sensor that wasn't coming off with the Arctic butterfly so needed to try a wet clean product. V Dust plus didn't get it done so I tried Smear Away and it got it off on one pass.
Product is a little pricey this way (four swabs only) but it is a nice small package to use to try wet cleaning. If you will be doing more than an occasional clean then I suggest you spend some more and get the bigger bottles and swab packages.
