Comments about Tenba Messenger Series: Photo/Laptop Daypack (Black):
Overall it's a good bag. I would have given it 5 stars, except for the fact that the stitching was loose on the inside of the bag. It was not a big deal and it only took a few minutes to repair with a needle and thread. But it was sold as a NEW bag, so I have to deduct one star for bad quality control by the Tenba company.
Also in the top most zipper the fabric keeps getting caught in the zipper, when you try to open it. So I have to take away another star because of this is clearly a design error by Tenba.
For about 8 years I had another backpack that had allowed me to easily access and swap lenses without taking the bag off of my shoulder. Sadly that bag wore out and I hoped that this bag would allow me to do the same thing via the side pockets. Unfortunately the high placement of the side pocket and the stiffness of the Zippers is making this hard to do, but until I can find another backpack that does this better, I am stuck using this Tenba. But overall it's a good bag, that sits comfortably on the back and the laptop compartment works well.

Great travel bag/ airplane carry on when you are going on a vacation and you don't need to bring every piece of camera equipment you own. Super comfortable with great support for all day hikes around town or in the woods. It would benefit from additional anchor points to attach equipment (tripods/monopods) or small accessory bags. As well you do have to take the bag off to access your gear. Loaded with lots of pockets to keep all your essentials organized and if you are like me and own several bags each with a specific purpose you won't be sorry adding this one to your arsenal.
It would also benefit from a little more space up top for personal items and a waterproof cover.

Comments about Tenba Messenger Series: Photo/Laptop Daypack (Black):
There are many things I like about this backpack. It is built tough, yet comfortable to carry. It is obvious that a lot of thought was put into its design. However, there is one thing that I really really dislike about this backpack. The upper compartment does not have a zipper. It can be partly closed by only a drawstring. No matter how tight you pull the drawstring, the top is still left open by several square inches. Even though the "flap" comes down over the top compartment, this does not change the fact that the top compartment is actually open. I do not feel comfortable leaving any small items inside an open compartment. In my view, this is a major design flaw. Tenba could have easily used a zipper to close the top. The only reason why I would not recommend this product is due to the absence of this zipper. Otherwise, I am fine with everything else and I would have given it a 5-star rating. I also agree with another reviewer that ONE Tenba logo is enough. Tenba has placed so many logos on this backpack that I lost count. There are other less important nuisances. Certain zippers get caught in the inner linings of the backpack. This makes it difficult to open and close them. The camera section can be opened only after opening the top flap. This makes it rather difficult to access the camera. I like the laptop compartment. It has been nicely designed.
I bought this bag a few days ago. I am still not sure about keeping it. I checked out camera bags made by other manufacturers. This Tenba model was the most comfortable of them all.

This bag is as described and reviewed. Went with this bag over the standard messenger bag for travel. Have not yet used the bag, but will have ample space for non camera items as a carry on. The camera insert is removable, and fits nicely in a couple of other bags/packs which is a nice feature. Great fit an finish, very durable looking. And B&H was perfect as well, [...]

Camera pouch is removable from bag, meaning you can insert into another bag to make that your camera case. Spot for laptop as well. Very compact and easy to travel with.

All in all this is a great general use bag. The best feature is you don't look like a dork! or look like your carrying expensive camera gear. I toured NYC for a week with more kit than I needed and never got hassled or broke a sweat.
The good thing they don't tell you in the product specs is you can remove the over-engineered waist belt...in case you're not hiking a mountain.
The bad thing is Tenba really over did it with Tenba logos on this Tenba bag made by Tenba. There are 12 Tenba logos on this thing, including the ridiculously large one on the waist belt. Makes you look like TENBA-Man.
in all, buy it.

Comments about Tenba Messenger Series: Photo/Laptop Daypack (Black):
I bought this bag for a business trip to Europe because I wanted to combine business (laptop) with a little pleasure (photography) and I did not want to carry two separate bags. I first ordered a different bag that turned out to be just too large as a reasonable carryon. Opted for this one and it was perfect. All the pockets are a nice feature. Like the zip top compartment on top for stashing those quick to retrieve items - passport, money, phone, etc. Limited room, but enough for the essentials. Next layer down is for keeping additional things you want with you, but not necessarily for quick access. The area is lareger than the top and has room for a change of clothes (shirt, shorts) filters, lunch, etc. The bottom portion is for photo equipment and held my camera body with lens attached (80-200), extra lens (400mm), and flash. So very roomy and like the way it pulls forward and out to expose whatever you need to access. Camera section when zipped fits a small lock when the two zippers are brought together. This is useful when traveling to areas where pickpocketers are prevalent. Hip/waist strap can be removed if not needed. Shoulder straps very comfortable and easily adjustable. It would have been nice if they had included some areas where items could be clipped on rather than using handle or strap. Tenba has other models where a waterproof cover is included in the bottom, but I do have a separate unit that works fine. Also would have been nice to have a zipper on the back to access the computer without having to unsnap and open middle compartment. Not all that troublesome, but would make airport security a bit easier. I have yet to go back to my old photo bag or computer bag for work. It is the perfect combo I was looking for or can be used as a total computer/work pack or camera pack. Highly recommend. Also have to commend B&H for getting it to me in time for my trip. I ordered from another vendor and they told me days after I placed the order that it was on backorder.
