Nikon's Eco-Glass optical system includes lenses and prisms that are responsibly sourced and contain no lead or arsenic. Complementing the travel-friendly size and eco-friendly glass, aspherical lenses reduce field curvature that can distort the field of view—resulting in flat images that display lifelike color and consistent center-to-edge sharpness. This is a note of historical interest: I bought the direct predecessor of this binocular in 1990, 22 years ago. Exactly the same weight, just 2mm smaller in diameter (8X23). This great little Nikon binoc is still giving great images today. Clear as a bell, light as can be. The hand-grip (leatherette?) has gotten a bit faded, but otherwise it is pristine. Everyone should have one. Thanks for reading. John Robinson

Nice but difficult if you wear glasses

These binoculars are easy to use and are quite clear. If you wear glasses the image is a bit difficult to view. Also I still haven't figured out how to attach the strap.

We gave our four sons and our son-in-law Nikon 8x25 Travelite VI Binoculars for Christmas. All were very pleased to receive them. One anticipated using his pair for hunting, one mentioned watching our grandson playing football at LSU, another for viewing stage productions. All received them enthusiastically and loved their clarity and light weight.

I like to walk every day when I travel on business and do some casual birding. I found these binoculars to be very good quality for the price. They are very light and the strap allowed me to sling them off to one side on my chest so that they didn't bounce were not a bother during long city park walks or when shopping in markets etc. along the way. I really didn't know they were there. Very happy with them. Good value.

Comments about Nikon 8x25 Travelite VI Binocular:

I bought these to replace a pair of smaller roof prism binoculars. These add a little size but not weight. The benefit is much greater contrast and depth of field.

I've had this pair since Feb 2002. It is just now getting a little fuzzy in one lens. I give it a four star bacause it's really not a long view pair. I'm now looking for one with a wider and longer view to take to Alaska.

These will be used for general viewing at close distances. The optics are excellent and they are lightweight and easy to hold.
The focusing ring is a little small and can be slow to focus. Overall a very good choice.

Comments about Nikon 8x25 Travelite VI Binocular:

We got these for general usage on the rural property we have. We have a pair of Nikon 7x25 compact binoculars that are at least 20 years old and they are still excellent, so we wanted Nikon for its quality and performance. These new 8x25 binoculars have an excellent image and the focus mechanism works very smoothly. Although they might not do as well in lower light situations as a full size pair with larger lenses, they are great in normal daylight. Although the body is a little larger than our much older model, it is very light, probably because they use carbon fiber. We would recommend these to anyone needed a good general purpose pair of compact binoculars.

Comments about Nikon 8x25 Travelite VI Binocular:

Bought it at the store, the sales person is very helpful, this is my first time purchasing a binoculars, he asked me a few questions to determine what I need which is for concert, Opera Theater and travel in general. This is not the best binoculars on the market compares to Leica or Swarovski which is 10 times more than this one, but for my use and my budget, this is the best for my money. He did show me another one from Pentax which is in the same price range as this one but I prefer the handle of the Nikon. Used it once when I visit Met Opera house last week and I like it. The only downside is the eyecups are rubber roll up-down not sliding.

Comments about Nikon 8x25 Travelite VI Binocular:

Excellent quality. Very light. Good eye relief for people that wear glasses. Will use on trips. Didn't give 5 stars because the eye pieces require you to fold the rubber covers back for anyone using glasses and since my wife has glasses and I don't it is a pain to adjust them each time.

Comments about Nikon 8x25 Travelite VI Binocular:

I have reached the point in life where I want to travel light -but still do birding etc. so when I tried my son's travelite binocs I knew they were for me. While they may not be as good as a larger, more expensive binocs, they are a good buy for the money and I know I will enjoy using them.

For birding, a definite step up from my old 7x20 Nikons, but the light weight and compact size keep them convenient for hiking and travelling. Can walk around with them slung over the neck without any bother. Quality is good.

Comments about Nikon 8x25 Travelite VI Binocular:

I like the sharp image, compact size, click-stop diopter adjustment on the right eyepiece, and the way the diopter adjustment holds the same focus setting for a wide range of distances.
The only improvement I would recommend is lens caps for the objective lenses.
