The Sony NP-FV50 InfoLITHIUM V Series Battery Pack (1030mAh, 8.4V) is a replacement or spare battery pack for your compatible Sony camcorder. This InfoLITHIUM battery works with the camera to display remaining battery power, so you're never surprised when out on a shoot. In addition, the NP-FV50 provides a 15% capacity increase over the NP-FH50. When used with an optional AC-VQV10 charger, the FV50 charges faster than the original battery your camcorder came with.

I opted for the genuien Sony battery. There were several non-Sony choices with the same designation, but they had less than 1030 mAhr capacity.

I received this battery with a Sony TG5V today. Sad that the battery is not compatible. I bought it because it appeared in item Accessories when I ordered the TG5V, so I thought that's good to have a higher capacity one than the original FH50. Cannot return it because I'm overseas now so it's costly to ship.
In short, beware that when you order something, those appear as Accessories may not be compatible.

Most camcorder tends to drain battery quickly compared to still camera. I use my camcorder a lot when I travel and just one battery won't last me whole day. I am glad I bought this battery as backup for my camcorder.

I bought this as a spare to go with my HDR-CX200 video cam. If you need to maximize the compactness of your rig, this is the one to have. It won't record as long as the FV70, but it's only about 2/3 the size. Like all the Sony proprietary batteries, this one's a keeper. That said, the FV70 improves that camera's balance and handling noticeably and offers increased recording time.

For Sony HDR-CX110E (PAL)
Bought 2 to suppliment the same origonal li-ion. Having them all the same, I don't need to remember different running and charging times.
Up to 4-5 hours operating time is more than enough for me.
Great prices from B&H help me afford quality OEM accessories. Less than half the price in Australia.
Time will tell in regards to longevity and long term reliability. My experience with Sony, is that they produce top quality gear; the camcorder certainly is. (Bought locally)

I recently purchased a Sony Handycam DCR-SR68 for our Truckee Optimist club to video our events. The battery which came with the handycam would not have had enough recording time to video all of our events. I have not yet had the occasion to use the new battery, but the B&H price was certainly competitive. And from now on, the battery which came with the camera will be the spare.
