Comments about Redrock Micro theEvent DSLR 2.0 Hybrid Rig:

Set this rig up right and it will do all the work for you. I find that it takes a lot of fiddling with to find that right spot, but when you get it, gravity pushes most of the weight of the camera into your chest, and your hands end up just being the guiding force for the camera. I see it as a good thing that it's so adjustable, because when I rent it out in a package it's pretty universal.

Note: The way I have it set up is opposite as the photo, the 8" Grip rod is underslung, as well as the microMount. Still on the right side though.

Comments about Redrock Micro theEvent DSLR 2.0 Hybrid Rig:

I use this product with my Canon 5d Mark II for event and commercial video. At wide lengths, this rig is extremely steady and easy to move around. Anything past 50mm becomes a bit shaky, but doable with steady hands. My favorite parts about this particular product, especially in comparison to similar products in similar price ranges, is that because this rig is made for two hand use, you can always have one hand available to change settings and one to adjust your lens.Additionally, the build quality is excellent from what i can tell so far. I put the thing together myself, and not only does it seem extremely solid but the actual parts seem to be of the highest quality. On the same note regarding assembly; packaging and assembly of this product was pretty annoying. You receive one box, open it up to find about 25 small boxes. It feels like a million parts, and there is almost zero documentation regarding assembly. They suggest you visit the website to get directions. I did that and not only was it kind of difficult to find the video tutorial, but when i did find it, it was extremely fast paced and uninformative. I end up putting the rig together mostly from looking at pictures of the product on the internet.Lastly, this rig is expensive. I think it was clear over $800. Not much else to say, but that is too expensive for what it is. If they could bring this product's price point down to around $500, I'd have no problem giving it 5 stars. For now it only gets 3.

Comments about Redrock Micro theEvent DSLR 2.0 Hybrid Rig:

I bought this for wedding video work and found it to be very limited. Unless I'm missing something on its use. I searched the forums and how to's that were available and there just isn't much about it. I tweeted looking for other users and none replied. I found it hard to hold steady even with the support. For [$]there must be a better device, perhaps the Merlin.I'm not giving up on it till I've used it some more.
