The APEX AX-48 Pro Plus Professional Column Keyboard Stand from Ultimate Support is perfect for musicians who need a stylish, portable stand capable of holding 2 keyboards or workstations that sets up and tears down quickly.

Included with this stand is the AX-48 Pro Boom Adapter which makes it easy to mount your own boom stand to the top of the column and the AX-48 Pro Tote Bag for simple transport of your AX-48 after it is folded with a heavy-duty shoulder strap to free your hands your other gear.

Sleek, New Design
The modern look and shape of the APEX AX-48 Pro takes a nod from its big brother, the flagship AX-90, and brings the keyboard player out from behind a stack of no-character keyboard stands, and into the spotlight with the rest of the band. The footprint of the new AX-48 Pro has not changed from the previous APEX, but now offers an updated column design that is as aesthetically pleasing as it is performance ready
APEX-Quality Features
Everything keyboard players have come to appreciate about the APEX keyboard stand for over two decades is still available in the new APEX AX-48 Pro. It's the original column style keyboard stand that securely holds two keyboards out of the box (up to 125 lbs each!). The patented Tri-bar arms are height adjustable, the support legs are super stable, and it's incredibly easy to setup, tear down, and transport from gig to gig
Keyboards, synthesizers, and keyboard workstations have evolved in the last two or three decades since the original APEX was developed. The APEX AX-48 Pro now ships with two sizes of Tri-bar arms (one set of 13" arms, and one set of 18" arms) to safely hold today's keyboards, synthesizers, and keyboard workstations of all sizes.
Simple Setup and Tear Down
Setup and tear down takes seconds! The AX-48 Pro breaks down into a single, slender unit that's easy to transport and takes up hardly any room because the hollow column becomes its own carrying case! The legs remain connected and slide into and out of the base of the column, and the arms that support your keyboards are stored in compartments at the top of the column

Comments about Ultimate Support APEX AX-48 Pro Plus Professional Column Keyboard Stand:

I had an original Apex stand in the late 1980's that was fantastic and the AX-48 Pro Plus continues the legacy of Ultimate Support's high-quality construction, ease-of-use, and very cool design aesthetics. My favorite feature is the ability to place the keyboard supports at any height, without being restricted to certain heights by notch height adjusters found on most other keyboard stands.

I noticed that at first the folding legs can be difficult to snap into place, but once you get the hang of it, it's not a problem at all.

Comments about Ultimate Support APEX AX-48 Pro Plus Professional Column Keyboard Stand:

As a working musician I need a strong and reliable stand that works well, and since I am performing on stage it has to look good. This meets that need with some flair. The equipment it holds up looks great and is held sturdy. I was at first a bit worried as I have a 50lbs Korg Kronos X with 88 keys on it, but it holds it steady as long as I tighten everything down and make sure the Kronos is pushed back and touching the main post. It is very portable, sets up in seconds, and comes with a bag that has enough room in it for a few small items (damper pedal, cables etc). The cabling system is nice, as is the handle on the stand - all nice touches.

I only have a few complaints about the item: First, the mic stand attachment will only fit in its compartment in the supplied carry bag if it is completely collapsed and the mic adapter removed. Had that compartment only been a couple of inches longer, one could leave the adapter in place and this would not be an issue. Second, having to twist and turn the entire boom to get the mic stand attached is not good, and this will eventually strip the stand on what it screws to - preferably if one could turn the male part on the main stand while holding the boom stand over it, and then locking it into place would have been ideal. The issue is that the entire stand is at an angle, which makes lining the boom up to start threading it on a bit tricky since you have to hold it at an angle. Finally (and this is just me), as a performer in a band with a strong visual presence, I didn't like the product branding on the stand with the company name. Fortunately it is on as a sticker which I removed immediately when opening the box, and thankfully it *was* a sticker so I didn't have to paint over it.

Comments about Ultimate Support APEX AX-48 Pro Plus Professional Column Keyboard Stand:

Purchased two of these. The stands and cases are wonderful. The case strap makes it easy to find the center of gravity and makes them a breeze to carry to a show. My big problem is with the boom connector. The point where the boom screws onto the stand started stripping immediately. After a week, the boom simply plopped onto the stand with no hold whatsoever, wobbling and spinning away from myself and my bandmate when the weight of a mic and cable were added. The same happened to the second stand I'd purchased less than a week later, no matter how gingerly I attached the boom. It just stripped right down to nothing. Contacted Ultimate Support, who sent me the wrong replacement piece twice despite photos and detailed explanations. Finally, I got a replacement connection point for one of the stands (they said they only had one in stock to send me), but the same process is beginning again, even with careful, delicate attaching. If I decide to splurge on a [$]stand (two in this case), is it unreasonable to ask that remains fully functional for more than a week?

Comments about Ultimate Support APEX AX-48 Pro Plus Professional Column Keyboard Stand:

A note for potential buyers: the B&H web site says this stand only comes with the mic boom "adapter" (not the boom itself) for use with "your own" boom. According to the Ultimate Support web site, the Pro "Plus" version is supposed to include the mic boom. So when I called to order from B&H, I mentioned this. The rep said it should include whatever the manufacturer's web site says, so I went ahead & ordered. When it arrived it did include the actual boom, not just the adapter. B&H may have corrected the info on their web site by the time you read this, but if not, I just wanted to assure everyone it does indeed have the mic boom. Anyway, onward to the actual review…

            The "good" stuff:
            * Before this, I was using a single tier "X" stand for my keyboard, a fold-up table for my computer & interface, a mic stand w/ boom, & a music stand. Now this one stand replaces all 4 of those items! Less stuff to carry, takes less space to transport & on stage, & it looks sleek/modern/fantastic.

            The "could-be-better" stuff:
            * The first time I set it up, the legs were very frustrating. The instructions say to pull them out & snap them into place. Well that wasn't so easy. The back leg snapped in OK, but the other two did not. I pushed until I thought I might break something. I had read a review on another site that said the legs didn't stay open & they complained about them flopping down when trying to move the stand after it was set up. So I was concerned that maybe they were open as far as they would go. But I tried to stand it up & it was obviously not sitting right. Finally instead of trying to push the legs into a lock position, I kind of karate chopped one & then it snapped right in. Same thing folding it back up. A quick chop works better than just trying to push them in & out of position.

            * I was a little concerned about placing my pedals with the design of this stand. It looked like the leg might be right in the way of where I wanted to put them. Unfortunately my concern was justified. I'm making do, but I wish it was better in this area.

            * The boom adapter is like a standard mic stand, so you have to screw the boom on & off every time you set up. There definitely could have been a better design here. Leave it mounted & swing into a storage position, or easier on/off attachment adapter. You should at least be able to store the boom in the column like everything else when folded up, but alas no. Which brings me to the next item...

            * They put a pocket for the boom on the bag. Unfortunately it's not long enough if you leave the mic clip attached to the boom. (?!?!) What were they thinking? Who wants to put on & remove mic clips EVERY time you do a gig? Maybe that would only be a minor annoyance to you, but the fact that they missed this when making the bag really blew me away. To Ultimate Support: would another inch have killed you - really?

            * I'm using the top tier of the stand for my computer, & to lay music on so I don't have to use a separate music stand. What I need is a shelf instead of the tribars. I'm rigging something to work, but surely I'm not the only one that has a setup like this. I'm surprised they haven't made a shelf accessory yet.

            Summary:
Don't get me wrong, even with my frustrations, disappointments, & things that should be better - overall I am very happy with this stand, & if I had known what I know now before my purchase, I would still have bought it. It's WAY better than what I was doing before. And thank you B&H for having a lower price than anyone else! Although I suppose that's subject to change. :-)

The leg pin slipped out of place & jammed. Had to dis-assemble & try to repair at the show. What a huge hassle for a brand new stand. Never had this problem on their old model. I've had problems before with their so-called lifetime warranty on other stands where they claimed user eror & sent me the bill. Not cool.

I am using this stand to hold (3) 88-Key, weighted keyboards (Kurzweil K-2600XS, Roland Fantom G8, and Motif XF-8) and it is standing up to the challenge. I've received numerous compliments on how sleek it looks, and how small a footprint is required to hold such large keyboards.
