The XENYX X1222USB - 12-Input USB Audio Mixer with Effects from Behringer is a 12-input audio mixer with an integrated USB computer audio interface. It enables you to mix together and shape the sound of multiple audio signals, and route the audio to several outputs. Special attention has been paid to the quality of the X1222USB's 6 microphone preamps, "British" style EQ, and 4 easy-to-use one knob compressors.
The X1222USB provides six mono channels and up to four stereo channels, making it ideal for smaller and medium sized audio tasks. There are two aux sends on every channel (which enable you to route individual channels to stage monitors or external effects), and two stereo aux returns. The built-in USB interface allows for a bi-directional transfer of audio to and from your computer. The energyXT2.5 software is compatible with Mac, Windows, and even Linux operating systems, and includes virtual keyboard instruments and drum machines.
The built-in 24-bit dual engine effects processor features 16 presets that include, reverb, chorus, flanger, delay, pitch shifter, and multi-effects. You can edit the parameters of every preset, and a tap tempo button is included to sync time-based effects. The 4 built-in compressors are designed to simplify the process of controlling dynamics in your mix. With a single knob you can dial in the amount of compression you need for any given sound. Individual compressors are a feature rarely seen in mixing boards in this price range. The 6 XENYX preamps offer 130dB of dynamic range, and the 3-band "British" style EQ's really allow you to create a fine-tuned mix. The XENYX X1222USB is well suited for recording studios, video editing suites, live sound mixing, podcasting and more.

The Chnl EQ & comp is just fine.
About the only complaint I have is that I'm used to broadcast boards, and would like CR out, and switchable headphones, which it lacks. The X 1204 has that, though, without the 7 band EQ on the output.
All in all, a super unit for theater work, or recording which doesn't require flexible output monitoring.

I use the Xenyx X1222usb mainly for live shows with 3 to 6 musicians. We had been using a couple old Mackie mixers for years and the outputs blew on both. I replaced them with this mixer and couldn't be happier. The sound quality improvement over the old Mackie's is amazing. It's so much easier for me to dial in a great mix now and the 24-bit effects are great. Also love the color coded FX and Monitor sections. Would have given it 5 stars if it allowed recording all channels individually. You can only record left and right mains.

This mixer will serve to eliminate several outboard pieces I have and do it all from one convenient board. It offers several great features from the many inputs to the easy to use EQ and effects. The controls are very intuitive and work well I'm using this for my garage band PA. So far it works great and I am very happy.

I am in between bands and have found this board to be superb for the money. I do my own recording with it. This includes open air mics as well as digital workstation recording. It's also great for small combo work. You could pay twice as much and not get any more features!

This is a feature packed board for the money and seems to be of good build quality. I searched for awhile to find small board with the most features for the cost and this Behringer board was the best. I am happy with the features, ease of use, and build quality so far. The effects have some hiss/noise with first use, so I need to see if that is a problem with the board, or user error. Otherwise, the sound is clean, the phantom power on/off switch is a nice feature and the mixing capabilities are good for a board of this size and price. The compression on the first 4 channels is fantastic.

By the same time I bought a Behringer XM8500 Microphone and it's works perfectly with the mixer. The quality is astounding for a very accessible price.
