This is not a 'real' camera bag, it's a messenger bag with some padding, adjustable compartments, and a more photo-friendly overall design. That's exactly what I was looking for; something much smaller and more discreet than my large backpack, something to hold 2-3 pro lenses while I walk around with my camera around my neck, and something to put a D700 and 2 lenses in for smaller jobs. I was initially disappointed with its diminutive size compared to my regular non-camera messenger bag, but in reality it holds what I need it to. The two dividers will sometimes work themselves free from their velcro hold when walking around with a camera body in the bag, but if you tighten the buckles down a bit it's fine. I did end up adding extra padding from an old lighting bag to the bottom because it really only has ~3/4" down there. That's the worst aspect of the bag I think, as most people expect the bottom of a camera bag to provide protection when setting down. My quick fix doubled the padding and I'm now quite happy.

I find the bag much more suited to carrying lenses than cameras (at least large dslr cameras), as it holds my nikon 14-24, 80-200afs, and 24pc-e almost perfectly, meaning I can have 4 large lenses with me while walking around, all while remaining compact and relatively comfortable (obviously that's not a light scenario though).

Bottom line: it's a budget bag that's non-camera-ey and holds enough to be useful. Definitely don't expect it to protect your gear like a real camera bag, but also don't expect to stand out or to feel ripped off with the value it provides.

The crumpler 6 million dollar home is a higher end alternative, but at 4x the cost. The Domke F-5xb was also suggested but is too small and has the annoying zippered top for 3x the price. I'm happy with this bag.

I carry my D200 and snacks and water in this bag. It's nice and light with a zippered pocket for holding stuff. It's a basic bag withouth too many frills. There is minimal padding on the bottom, so this bag isn't for people worried about hitting stuff.

My biggest gripe with this bag is the strap. It can really dig into your skin and it hurts. A small cushion or some padding would have been nice.

You're certainly not gonna use this out in a war zone lugging bulky pro sized gear; but for personal, everday shooting with a small to average sized camera and gear- this bag is the perfect size, fit and travel accesory. Three well sized, padded compartments for the optimum, minimalist outing. And you cannot beat that price!

If your are looking for a stealth bag that is light and simple this is your bag with LowePro quality. It is not a padded bag so it will not provide loads of camera protection, however, it is designed to not look like a camera bag.
Great for a daily carry bag or to store a kit in your studio.

Comments about Exchange Messenger Bag (Black):

I love this bag! First the cons: The main compartment doesn't zip closed - I wouldn't carry my equipment in this bag during inclement weather. When they do make this bag with a zipped compartment I'll be first in line to buy one.

Now the pros: It doesn't zip closed. This is a great bag if you're looking for ready access to your camera - which I was. It's lightweight yet seems durable. I find the fit of the shoulder strap comfortable even though it isn't padded. For me, the bag weight with equipment is distributed just right. This can probably be attributed to the ergonomic design of the shoulder strap. The size is smaller than the traditional laptop bag making it more of a fashion accessory than a piece of luggage. It doesn't scream, "I'm carrying expensive camera equipment. Help yourself". It's large enough (the main compartment) for my T3i with kit lens, a 75-300mm zoom, battery charger, small flash and miscellaneous other small items. It could possibly fit an additional lens or two. However, I would consider anything more than what I carry excessive for this bag - just a personal opinion. There are 3 stash pockets; one of which is zippered. The pockets are located outside the main compartment and protected by the bag flap.

Now for MY solution to the padding issue. Truly, it isn't an issue. You're not going to purchase this bag as a travel case to provide maximum protection. I keep my zoom lens in its own soft-side case which fits nicely in the bag.I placed one of the two included padded sectionals on the bottom (horizontally) of the bag where I keep my camera. This provides a great extra cushion. Also it creates a pocket to store items that you don't need on a regular basis: extra memory, qtips, extra cleaning cloth, screen protectors - that sort of thing. So if you're looking for a nice, lightweight, casually stylish camera bag this would fit the bill.

This probably won't be your first bag, or your main bag. You'll appreciate this when you finally decide that you don't need to drag every bit of camera equipment you own on every trip, every event, every walk. This holds my Canon T2i, with grip, lens detached, plus three lenses (50mm, 18-55, 50-250). Plus memory cards, a small digital recorder, & flashlight. It's comfortable either on the shoulder or across the chest. There's little protection if you drop the bag, so don't drop the bag and you'll be fine. Again, it obviously won't hold everything, but it will hold what you need, and you'll love it for that.

Out of the box, the bag is comfortable to wear all day with around 5 lbs of gear, and I like the fact that it is soft and pliable, so bends to fit your bodies shape (as a bonus, it never looks "full" due to its softness, so that can be important if you don't want to attract too much attention). It also has a long adjustable strap, which I like. The mods I have made so far is adding a dedicated film holder, to carry 2 rolls of 35mm film, and I plan on adding some Velcro to the front flap as I'm not a huge fan of the buckle system, a compartment to carry a table, and a few carabiners to hang stuff from, such as keys, etc. This bag isn't perfect, but for the price, its relatively easy to make it perfect. Because its so cheap, I don't have any fear of taking a scissors and sewing needle to it to customise it exactly how I want, and since doing that, its been great.

I researched small bags for a couple of days and kept coming back to this one because of the price. This is perfect if you shoot weddings or events. If you use primes and want a cheap bag to switch them while shooting, this is it. I rotate a 50mm, 85mm, 135mm or a 20mm with this bag. The padding isn't extreme, but it's low profile and serves it's purpose. I did add an extra padded support to the strap to help with larger lenses. I didn't like the clasps at first, but while shooting you don't have to snap them shut. Dude, it's [$] well spent. I also use this with my Rolleiflex. Perfect.

It's a very nice bag. I am very happy with it.
It's big enough and the material is very good.
                              It's definitely worth the price.
                              It's perfect for traveling.

As has been pointed out, it's not the most padded bag out there, but works great for a short excursion. It's comfortable, and holds all I typically need for a short day trip that's not entirely a photographic trip. I would have a huge backpack for those...perfect for a vacation when you don't want to take everything you own.

Hands down the best bag I have ever owned and gets the most use. The bag fits two cameras, an IR converted D90 with a 10-24mm and a d7000 with 18-200mm. And there is enough room for a 50mm or 35mm protected with a lens case. That is actually my prefered fill bc I will normally have one camera out, the lens helps balance the weight if I am moving about. It is perfect for me because its easy to carry slung cross body. It's great because it suits my needs perfectly. I give it a 5. Maybe slightly less because of the minimal padding, but because I knew it was not the most padded (for protection) bag, I have to give it a 5. Extra detachable dividers would be ideal. But as I say, I have tried many bags and have extra padding and velcroed dividers that can be used to secure the contents more securely.

I purchased this bag because my home case is just too big to travel with and other bags in my inventory couldn't hold enough gear. The Lowepro Exchange Messenger Bag was the perfect solution. Lightweight, roomy and easy to carry. I was able to fly with my DSLR body (one lens on), an additional lens, my speedlight and a zoom. There was enough room left over for my remote and cables as well. Carrying it during my long layovers was easy as well - the messenger design with the angled strap kept the shoulder pains at bay and my bag out of the way. My only wish was that it had more base support. It was easy enough to adapt, however, with a simple piece of cardboard placed at the bottom. Overall: great purchase at a price you can't beat.
