I needed a bag to carry my 80-200 attached to my D200. I also needed something customizable so I could carry an extra lens and/or a flash. This bag fits that description perfectly.
To give you an idea of the space in this bag. This bag fits my D200 w/ RRS L-Bracket, hand strap, and 80-200 2.8 with hood reversed PERFECTLY. It literally hugs this combo like a glove. It's not uncomfortably tight but it is snug with no slack. I was contemplating buying this or the Toploader 75 Pro. I'm glad I bought this one because since I don't have a battery, pack, there would be a lot of slack with the 75 Pro. Also I like how this bag has less width than the 75 so it will be more comfortable to casually carry this on your shoulder.
The front pocket can fit a flash but it has absolutely no padding so if you are putting anything in there that is fragile, it will probably get banged up if you bump into anything. If you want to carry a flash, I suggest buying a slip-lock lens case large enough to fit one. This bag allows you to hook up two slip-lock attachments. The 75 only allows you one. I have the Lens Case 1 and I keep my 18-70 w/hood reversed in there.
For the price, the quality of the bag is excellent. The padding is great, the size is perfect, it is customizable, and it looks great. The weather cover is a plus and a welcome feature but I don't take my stuff out in the rain anyway.
The top flap holds two memory cards.
If you don't have a battery pack, just buy this bag and skip the 75 as it is designed strictly for pro bodies or bodies with battery packs. Slack in a camera bag is no good and defeats the purpose of protection. I have a feeling the 70-200 2.8 might be a very tight fit or it might not fit at all so please use my combo example when deciding if your combo will fit in this bag.
The only thing I would recommend you do is buy an accessory strap as the one that comes with the bag is basic and uncomfortable. I bought the Op/Tech USA SOS mini. It is perfect and it makes the bag feel even lighter than it is.
I am very happy with this bag and I highly recommend it.

One other post said the bag is large enough for a DSLR and a 70-200 2.8 lens. Well, yes but just barely. I bought this to take to the US Open and it was simply to snug for me. The camera and lens will fit, but very tight. I would opt for something slightly larger if you want to carry anything at all. The strap has no padding and is uncomfortable to carry a big lens and camera. Well made, affordable but not for me...

Comments about Lowepro Toploader Zoom 55 AW Bag (Black):
I purchased the wonderful Canon 70 - 300 L series zoom lens for my Canon 5D Mark III and I needed a new case. The camera, recharger, and data cables fit as expected, but there was no issue with the lens hood (turned so it covers much of the lens) as I found with other sling-based top loaders. I'm thrilled with how easy it is to go from a "packed way and ready to go" state to the "camera is ready to take a picture" state. Perfect!

I use this bag for sporting events. It will hold my T4i with 70-200mm 4L IS with the hood reversed. Can attach extra lenses to the side with lowepro lens cases. Has a pocket in the top flap to hold lens cap and two small pockets for memory cards. Would have given 5 stars if the strap was padded. I had to get a padded strap for when I attach a lens to each side.

Comments about Lowepro Toploader Zoom 55 AW Bag (Black):
This bag is very good for the D800+the Nikon 24-70 lens. The camera with this lens is quite bulky and this bag "minimize" the space and at the same time provides excellent protection. It can be carried with the strap as a separate bag or can be fitted in a larger bag (e.g. when traveling in a carry on or in a backpack). The only minor cons about the bag are that it has a zipper so it take some time to take it out and one cannot leave the camera strap out

I use this case for my DSLR with 70-300mm lens attached. It works well and offers the necessary protection. The storage pocket on the front of the case is useful for carrying extra batteries and/or fliters. There is also a zippered storage pocket inside the lid that is large enough for an extra filter. Within the lid pocket are two smaller pockets to accommodate memory cards.

I do a lot of outdoor sports... downhill ski, cross country ski etc. I was rarely taking my Canon 5D with me. With this bag, I carry it everywhere and took some precious shots. It is solid and it doesn`t restrict your movements. I can ski with my 5D with a 75-200 attached to it and not even noticing it.

Just purchased a Nikon D800 with 24-70 mm lens; it fit perfectly in the Lowepro Toploader Zoom 55 AW. I also use a slightly smaller toploader for my Nikon D200 I have had for years.
Usually, I carry the camera in the case until I get to the mountain or trail I will be hiking and then remove the camera but continue to carry the case until I am ready to stop photographing. It is large enough for a couple extra batteries and memory cards, lens cleaner, etc. So, I am ready to go with the camera on the spur of the moment; more extensive accessories I carry in my backpack.

I was disappointed by the difficult zipper opening on the lid. There are too few pockets to stash items and the belt loop was too small to use with my backpack. I bought this size bag so I could carry my canon 60d with a tamrom 70-300.You do have to reverse the lens hood to make it fit, but its well worth it. Also this bag comes with a built in rain cover that has saved me many times in bad weather. The negative would be the shoulder strap could use more cushion, but its still a very nice bag.
