[$]:(Sadly though, the construction is not that great, I literally broke a piece off within 5 minutes of receiving the package. The height adjustment knob came fell off since I did not know how to use the tripod, used a bit too much force and broke due to cheap plastic. I've super glued it over 10 times already since I keep breaking it off, decided to reinforce it with some tape, and so far have been more careful. I have a feeling, the metal used to manufacture this tripod is the kind where, if you dent it, you won't be able to easily open and close it anymore.Besides the build quality, it is still a [$] tripod.I actually like it besides these drawbacks. I don't do a lot of tripod photography, otherwise I'd invest more. I only use this when I go shooting at night, which is not often. The only time I realized why build quality really mattered while shooting was at pier in the middle of the night. The Pacific Ocean is pretty windy depending on time of the day, and I'm sure the tripod would've flown away if I didn't have a steady grip. Overall though, if it's not windy, and you just want a flat controllable surface occasionally, this is a great buy. Just gotta be careful with it. Oh ya, forgot to mention, the height adjustments are also pretty amazing to me. I am about 6'1', and so far, it does a dang good job at keeping up with my needs. A very satisfied customer.

I got this tripod mainly for travel, because it is so light. It is very flimsy and wobbles with any hint of wind or other movement. The pan/tilt is not smooth at all, so I wouldn't recommend this for video. Weighted down the stability might be a little better, but since the lower extension is thinner than my pinky(and I don't have big hands), I feel like the thing will snap with weights.Anyone buying this tripod is either doing so because it's light and its' cheap. It is both of those things. I wouldn't expect much more from it though. I'll give it 3 stars because of the weight and the fact that it's only [$]

Comments about Sunpak 5200D Digital Tripod (Black):

I've been ordering these for years the last time in Sept. When I received the tripods they were a lesser quality than the previous orders. The leveling feet are gone. The neck is much smaller. The leg material is thinner. The leg clamps are smaller.

The weight difference between the old design and new is noticeably in favor of the old design. The new one being much lighter and cheaply made.

The first new design I pulled from the box immediately had a leg with the clamp fall off and I couldn't get it back on.

Comments about Sunpak 5200D Digital Tripod (Black):

The camera was not very stable on this tripod and even with everything locked down the camera could still move. Plus, it felt like the camera could fall off. The plastic piece that mounts into the quick-release was pretty easy to pull out, so when I applied any force on the camera it would come off of the tripod. Not what you want to trust a $500 camera and lens to.

I returned this tripod and spent an extra $10 to get a much more stable one.

This product, even though it says tripod on it it has many more uses. When my camera stabalizer broke this worked for me. It also has alot of hight getting into high places. Overall this is a good product.

Not high quality, but can't go wrong for the price. Perfect for the occasional day hike with a micro 4/3 or compact camera. If you need something that will last forever, then look elsewhere. But at this weight for a disposable price, I am happy with it!

I used this tripod once. After removing the top plate that secure camera, the plastic clip fell off. I came up with a fix and it is usable again. I guess you can't expect much from a tripod at this price. But it's cheap so I'm not that upset.

About the only positive thing I can say about it is it's low, low price. Oh and I guess it has "all the features you'd expect on a much more expensive tripod." Of course those features are manufactured with a extremely wide tolerance level. Do not get this if you really care about a steady camera mount. The leg hinges are so loose even a mild breeze with set your camera to shaking. I only bought it because of the price. I'm setting up a time lapse camera to be left out for days and weeks on end and I'd be strapping it to a balcony railing so I couldn't invest in too much and it was cheaper than a cheap monopod.

Bought this for a feather weight camcorder. Telescoping legs with tabs to lock them in place. Weighs less than 2 pounds. I would not put a DSLR with a giand zoom lens on it. I think max weight is approximately 3.5 pounds, but my camcorder with battery installed doesn't even weigh 1 pound. Has rotating everything on top so you can position the camera in every conceivable way. For what I paid it is definitely a bargain. Some plastic parts here and there, but I seriously doubt a few ounces will stress them to the point of failing or breaking.

Comments about Sunpak 5200D Digital Tripod (Black):

I very rarely use a tripod so for me this product is great. Its super light, easy to set up and use. If you mainly photograph holding camera and only have limited need for the tripod this product gets the job done at the right price. If you are someone who is going to set the camera on the tripod and not need to move the head around much its great, but if you have the need to have the camera on the tripod and reposition the head of the tripod quickly & often I would invest in something a little higher quality. This product is well made and reliable for light use.

It was exactly what I needed, an inexpensive tripod for a small time-lapse camera. I had to weigh it down with a sandbag so the wind wouldn't knock it over. Very light-weight, but sturdy enough for a small camera. Would be great for backpacking.

1 star is too many. bought this to use as a compact light stand for using strobes in tight spots. Junk - even at the cheap price. nearly lost a strobe using this thing.

Purchased as a "cheap" back up for a camping trip - planned on taking night photos and did not want to lug our "big" way more expensive tripod. The Sunpak 5200D was perfect! Used it for both our film and digital cameras. Folds down to perfect size to fit into our backpack. Actually using for more than the "one time" use we planned on. Suggest great for travel use or if need to transport a very light tripod.
