I needed a camera case for long hikes that would allow me to store a camera with a 70-200 zoom attached and give me quick and easy access to the camera. The Clik Elite Bodylink seems to be that case. It is well constructed, has a hood to keep the pack dry in case of rain and a well padded body harness. It even has a bar for attaching a camera as an alternative to a monopod. But there is room for improvement.

According the the shape of the case and the accompanying photos, one is to put the camera with the lens pointing downward in the case. If this is done, the entire 8 pound weight of camera and lens sit on the tip of the lens. I don't know if Clik Elite has done extensive testing to ensure that there is no impact on the equipment while trouncing around in the forest, and in the absence of that, I don't get a good feeling about all that pressure being placed on the tip of the lens alone. There should have been horizontal supports around the body of the camera to distribute the weight more evenly. I put the lens pointing up in the case.

Another place for improvement is when opening the main compartment, the case flops down for access to the camera as can been seen the the BH photos. Removing the camera entails pulling the camera out of the case with one hand and then juggling the camera to zip up 3 sides of the case. This is simply no where near as convenient as a top loading case where I don't even have to care if the case is zipped up or not. This case can be made much more versatile by putting a zipper opening where the seam is sewn at the top.

An alternative that I see to this pack is the Lowepro Top Loader Pro 75 AW Camera Bag with a separate Lowepro Chest Harness for Topload Zoom Bags. The major complaint about the Lowepro Chest Harness is that the straps are not padded and are uncomfortable for long hikes. The top loading Lowepro is much more convenient for taking pictures on the go, whereas the Clik Elite is more about taking pictures at the destination, or for slow meandering photo walks. Its definitely not for snow boarders.

Another improvement that could be made to the case is the camera attachment bolt on the bar. It is fixed, so a tripod head is needed before a camera can be attached. If this bolt was attached to a thumb wheel, a tripod head would be optional. There are nice features to this case and could be deserving of five stars, but for the short comings, I'll have to give it four.

I was surprised that I could put a Nikon V2 with a mounted FT1 adapter, TC 1.4, and a 300mm/f4 in the bag. Tight fit, but it worked. I had to buy a 1/4" to 3/8" adapter for it, and I had to find a strap to keep it at the right angle/distance from my face. I tried the Clik on a windy day at the beach and I could not hold it still enough. It was better when I wedged my monopod into the sand for a make-shift tripod. It's probably better than using a monopod by itself... perhaps.

This bag would probably be better for a smaller kit. A long lens takes up the whole bag and the bag doesn't provide the stability I was hoping for.

Comments about BodyLink Telephoto Pack (Black):

I purchased this item to take with me on a road trip. It is small but holds my Sony a7 with a grip and a 70-300mm lens with adaptor. I had to stuff a small towel at the bottom of the bag since the lens is short. Larger DSLR lenses should fit fine. I have a ballheld attached to the tripod plate. The height is adjustable and easy to use. The top has a place for batteries and SD cards. There is also a pocket for filters, small wallet or whatever. When I am not shooting I place it on my back like a normal backpack.

Comments about BodyLink Telephoto Pack (Black):

I love the BodyLink Telephoto pack I recently purchased. It has proven to be very functional. As a back pack, it is lightweight and rides well balanced. As a front pack it is easy to access equipment. The steadiness of the built in mount depends upon the steadiness of the wearer and with a little practice and some minor adjustments to the straps, I've found that it is better then carrying a tripod or monopod. The ease of adjusting the straps and the ability to extend the mount as little or as much as needed has allowed others to utilize this pack efficiently. Many have asked me where they could get one. The only criticism I have is that the top zipper pouch is really useless. Tough to access small items. I've stopped packing accessories in it and have utilized the other storage pouches instead.

I use the product to shoot my sons soccer games. I have a large 400mm lens and this bag certainly keeps the camera stable so there is no need for a tripod. It also allows me to shoot multiple frames with no blur.

The only thing I wish the bag had was another pocket for a standard lens.

If you're reading this, you probably understand just how great the idea is. I believe this is going to be on me most of the time I'm awake =)
The bag accomodates a pro body with 70-200/2.8 on and basically nothing more. There are two spacers in case you want to carry a shorter lens along with some other stuff. There are also two pockets, one suits batteries and filters, the other can let in a smartphone.
The angle of the frame incline is fairly tough to adjust (friction elements), I expect it to get easier over time.
Note that the bolt on the frame clamp is 1/4", so I needed a 1/4" to 3/8" adapter to mount a Manfrotto ball head.
Fits very comfortably and tightly both on the back and on the front. I have tried cycling with the bag on the front - works well if torso is long enough (I am 183cm tall) - not sure for shorter cyclers.
There is a rain cover hidden in a pocket at the bottom. The bag is very high quality, semi-hard construction and good padding.

DSLR with lens attached longest lens attached 9 inches. along with flash, and or a smaller lens.
it's comfortable, adjustable, stabilizes the camera for a tri-pod like shot.
The stabilzation bar is removable, making it a great bag just for carry your camera.
I haven't found a downside to the bag.

Pack is very well built with great detail to ingenuity and craftsmen ship. The concept behind the camera bag and tripod is something that is going to make shooting video with DLSR even better then ever and more affordable then ever. This company is making packs that are cutting edge and have new ideas to do stuff easer and better. This pack has the ability to help people with limited hand function.

Great for hiking and for photowalk around the city. It's a little tight inside but love the little pockets outside for accessories. Love the the camera attachment, it saves me from bringing along my monopod. When your not using the camera link you can carry it just like a small backpack.

I ordered this pack to photograph on the Washington, DC National Mall, where tripod/monopod use is not permitted. Still not experienced with it, but I'm impressed with the construction and design of this item. Seam sealing, hardware, materials used are all first class. It's the first product I've bought from this manufacturer, but I can tell, it won't be the last.

Very unique product that works well in conjunction with a small ball head. You can carry a pro SLR with large telephoto (think 70-200 f2.8), or an SLR with smaller lenses and a separate camcorder. This pack carries well in backpack style, then reverses to form a chest pack with camera-holding frame. Adjust the retractable frame to hold the eyepiece at eye level, and you can effortlessly hold telephotos for long periods, and follow action with SLR or camcorder by twisting your torso. Call it a combination backpack/steadicam. There is an extensive review of this pack, with photos, on my blog. If interested, see [@]. Highly recommended. No other product like it currently on the market. The only reason I gave it four stars is because overall it's a bit bulky, and probably too specialized for amateur snapshooters. But the bulk is more a fault of the camera gear than this pack. It's a pretty awesome rig if it suits your shooting needs.
