Product Highlights
  • Patented Lyre Suspension System
  • High-Grade Materials
  • Wide Operating Temperature
  • Supports Most Large Diaphragm Condensers

This InVision Universal Lite Microphone Shock Mount from Rycote provides a discreet, low-profile way to mount practically any large diaphragm condenser microphone. The mount uses Rycote's patented "Lyre" suspension system, which does not use any runner or elastic components to isolate the mic. Instead, the unique shape gives the mount specific compliance to the mic to prevent handling noise from reaching the capsule.

The high-grade materials used in constructing the mount give it an exceptionally wide working temperature of -31°F to over 212°F (-35°C to 100°C), far exceeding the range of typical elastic or rubber shock mounts. The mount retains all of the flexibility, balance, and performance that you would expect from a Rycote suspension system.

Note! This mount is designed for studio and installed use, and does not have the ability to be used in conjunction with a windshield.

Comments about Rycote InVision Universal Lite Microphone Shock Mount:

I run a small recording studio, mostly for TV spot soundtracks and indie singer-songwriter projects. My mic locker is stocked with large diaphragm and ribbon vocal mics of all shapes and sizes...C12VR, C414, Pearlman, U67, etc., . Some are quite heavy, as well. It is time consuming to change mics because they are each accompanied by their own suspension mount.

Invision lite and regular suspensions hold every one of my mics, look great, and are superior to most of the other mounts in isolating vibrations of all frequencies between the mic stand and mic. The Rycotes are also better at holding mics sideways for a session...something that bungy suspensions struggle with. Lastly, and partly related to the sideways thing, is that the Invision design allows me to apply support at exactly the mic's center of gravity, making subsequent re-postioning easy.

The only suggestion I have is to perhaps improve the range of motion in the elbow joint and consider lowering the price a bit. I'd by several at $59.

Comments about Rycote InVision Universal Lite Microphone Shock Mount:

This is an excellent upgrade from an AKG C414's stock shock mount. I'll have to use it more but it seems to be really well build. It has brass threads for the bolts which is great. The only hindrance is that you can't angle a 414 in the mount. Not a huge issue though.

Comments about Rycote InVision Universal Lite Microphone Shock Mount:

I sold the original shock mount for my Neumann TLM-103 some years back. I'm glad I did. It pales in comparison to this product. The only thing to complain about is that I didn't buy this sooner. Well worth the money.
