I am a public high school teacher purchasing this kit for my students to use. It will be shared between my Yearbook staff and my Video Production students. Obviously, it is a very basic 'kit' in that it only contains the bag, extra battery and the mini-HDMI cable. I mainly purchased it to have the extra battery and a sturdy bag to protect our new T2i's and lenses that we invested in so heavily (for a public school). The quality of the bag really surprised me when I opened the box! It is very sturdy with metal clasps that I think will hold up even to student abuse. I love the different compartment separators within the bag - padded for protection with plenty of room for four lenses and the body with a lens attached. The outside pockets leave plenty of space for extra batteries, cables, and other attachments. Even though we have only had it for a couple of weeks, it feels very sturdy and seems as if it will protect everything inside very well. Even with lots of different students using these cameras now and in the future, I think these bags will last us for quite a while - minimum of a couple of school years. When I first took them out of the boxes, I was thinking that the price was a little high compared to what we were getting. But now I don't think the price was too bad for the peace of mind in protecting the cameras and lenses that we simply don't have the money to replace.

Fits a few lenses, camera body and a few extras. Has a side pocket on each end. I don't like that the buckles are half metal and half plastic, hard to unlock. I also wish there was a zipper on the inside top to give more protection for your gear. The battery is a Canon battery, so no cheap brands. I haven't used the cable yet.

The starter set is a good item to purchase with your camera. It is a bit pricey to me, but the case you receive is very large and provides lots of storage and protection for your camera. The extra battery is nice to have because depending on your style you can eat up the battery pretty quick.

Comments about Canon Starter Kit:
I only bought this kit for one reason, the gadget bag that is included with it.For beginner photographers, this bag will help tremendously. It features two side and one front pocket. As well, there is a mesh pocket on the lid once you open up the bag. This provides plenty of room for the accessories that you may use with your camera, for example, lens filters, lens, wires, straps, books, etc.As well, I love how the dividers within the bag can be easily adjustable to one's needs. You can have up to 2 camera bodies in this bag. Thus, the metal clips that enclose the lid of the case with the bottom is very well made and adds some appealing looks to the bag.The price of this product was the main factor that caught my interest, a mere [$]. Canadian stores retails a battery for the T2i/T3i (LP-38) that sells for $90 alone. How ridiculous is that? This product that B&H offers gives you the best at an affordable price, with a HDMI cable and an extra battery, all for [$].The only downfall I would have to mention is that the lid of the bag seals itself on the bottom of the bag through velcro straps, in which the stitching can weaken over time. However, despite that, I still give this product a 5 star rating.

Easily holds 2 SLR bodies and 2-3 lens plus all your accessories. If anything it's a little too big at 15" wide. Not great for long hikes, but perfect for family shoots so you have all your gear handy.
Only dislike is that it has velcro instead of a zipper around the top. Not a big deal as you still have the two straps to keep it secure.

I've got this bag for my Canon Rebel T3i and I absolutely love it! This bag is not small for those who likes to have everything compact. But you can fit there not only camera, also additional lenses and even IPad.

Comments about Canon Starter Kit:
You can save several bucks by buying this kit over buying the bag, HDMI cable, and battery separately.
The bag and battery are geniune Canon products. The cable is from a third-party vendor, but very good quality.
The inside velcro dividers of the main interior of the bag give you plenty of choices for arranging your gear.
The mesh pockets inside the bag are not suited well for items with sharp corners such as cd covers, instruction pamphlets, etc. because the corners get stuck in the mesh.
Outside pockets of the bag are deep and sized well.
For extremely wet weather, it would be nice to have a zippered top instead of two velcro strips and two buckles to secure it.
And, like others have mentioned, I don't understand metal buckles with plastic inserts. I would rather have all metal or all plastic for these.
Shoulder strap is plenty tough for any travel.

Don't worry if the compartments fit your gear; you can determine the spaces you need with arrangeable partitions fastened with tough Velcro strips. The top fits snugly over the pack - the sides of the top have Velcro to seal the compartment; I like it. Inside and out are pockets with straps and zippers with plenty of room for my things. And straps to hold the tripod! I like the broad, padded shoulder strap too

I couldn't tell from the product photo how big this case is. What a surprise. it is more than adequate to handle my DSLR, lenses, and all manner of ancillary gear. Plus the extra battery and HDMI cord seemed too good to be true, but, voila, there they were. I'm very pleased. In fact I'm repurchasing the kit after having the first one stolen (fortunately, I had my camera with me).
