          Maui monocular

Comments about Vortex Solo 8x25 Monocular:

Purchased just prior to a 18 day Maui trip. Easy to operate and holds up well in the sand. This was and will be the one I carry when I get back to home and work. I work for the utility company in California as a first responder and use it to verify a equipment is in good order. For the price you can't beat this monocular!

Comments about Vortex Solo 8x25 Monocular:

Use the Solo 8x25 Monocular on hikes, at the ocean and lakes, for my upcoming Afican safari, and just recreational use. Tried other monoculars and they were hard to use. They were stiff and difficult to get focused because of a stiff slide or turning focus. This is small, light weight, easy to use, and very economical.

Comments about Vortex Solo 8x25 Monocular:

Image quality is ok but the contrast and sharpness are lower than my Vixen 8x20.
Its eyerelief is just enough for people who wear eyeglasses.
The focus ring is very difficult to turn. It is very narrow and the surface "rubber spines" make it worse. Fortunately, the depth of view is quite large when viewing distant objects. So you don't need to refocus fequently.
The eyeguard cannot be completely twisted down when focus on distant objects. This decreases the usable eyerelief.
The close distance is about 3meters.
For contruction, it looks and feels very sturdy in your hand. I feel very comfortable when holding the monocular. However, it is quite large and heavy.
It comes along with a Soft Carry Case but without any lens cap. It doesn't matter as the lenses can be covered when putting inside the carrying case.
