Comments about Elgato Systems EyeTV One:
I had high expectations about this product, I received and installed on two different mac computers, I only was able to get signal from music channels but not from video channels, this was with cable.
I also tried a digital over the air antenna, did several scans with no succes, I was not able to get any video signals.
Note: I work at a TV station, we tried the product with an antenna from our engineer department,an antenna that they use to test reception, unfortunately we were not able to use this product.

Comments about Elgato Systems EyeTV One:
The device is a single-frequency ATSC tuner that connects to a UHF antenna and outputs the ~20Mbps data stream from the broadcaster. The included EyeTV software running on my Mac then decodes the digital stream and displays the video. Video "recording" is simply saving the data stream to a file.
For the most part, the device and software just work. The only significant downsides are that the recordings tend to be large (~5GB/hour for a 1080i stream) and that the video decoding is not hardware accelerated, which causes some performance/quality problems. For interlaced HD video (30/60fps 1080i), the default setting is to drop half of the frames, which results in jerky, poor quality 30fps video with half of the resolution. When I set it to "progressive scan", the quality is much better, but CPU usage for one core goes up to 100% and I notice the occasional dropped frame when there's a lot of motion in the video.
On my 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo, the HD video performance is mostly acceptable, but I could see Macs with less powerful CPUs having problems. These problems are mostly due to the broadcasters using the older MPEG2 video codec, rather than the modern H.264/MPEG4 codec, but it would be nice to have hardware acceleration.

Comments about Elgato Systems EyeTV One:
Using on a 24" iMac. Personal home computing is finally what we've been promised for all these years. This was the last piece of the puzzle.
Though you can hook this up to cable or dish or whatever, I've got it hooked up to an old fashioned broadcast antenna! Ha, the jokes on you Cabletown!

This affordable plug-and-play product works exactly as advertised. Who needs a separate TV?

Comments about Elgato Systems EyeTV One:
This is a single tuner - I should have read the product description more closely. However, it works great and the included software is outstanding. Signal strength/quality indicator allowed me to tune in troublesome stations. Elgato's default DVR format is playable by a PS3. Highly recommened, though beware this is NOT a dual-tuner device, so you will not be able to record two shows at once.

Comments about Elgato Systems EyeTV One:
I was looking for alternatives to paying $100 a month for cable TV and settled on using a Mac mini as the core of my home entertainment system. The EyeTV One provides access to broadcast television and software that allows me to search and record whatever programs I want to watch, then play them back at my convenience. The software is largely easy to use, but the options can get a little complex if you want to do anything fancy.

Comments about Elgato Systems EyeTV One:
This unit is better than I expected. I was able to plug it in to our iMac and record over the air TV. I held off giving it 5 stars because it needs the user to be logged in or, the user account needs to be an administrator in order to record programs. Other than that, I am very pleased with the unit.
I felt the price was reasonable considering what cable was costing me.
