Ahhh cassettes. Remember cassettes? Do you remember when no home hi-fi (that's what we called them) was complete without a cassette deck? Remember making mix tapes for parties and driving around town? Did you have a portable cassette player you took the park and the beach?
Well cassettes are in their twilight years. Vinyl's made a respectable comeback but it looks like cassettes are going the way of 8-tracks, VHS, Betamax and the dodo bird.
But it's not too late to preserve both your store-bought cassettes and your homemade mixes. The Pyle Pro PL5CSUB Cassette To PC Tape Archiver And Digital Media Converter is the answer. Just drop your cassette into the top-loading slot and you're ready to rock—however you like.
You can just listen via the unit's 25 watt speakers. Or you can run the line level outputs to an external amp. Or you can record those old cassettes to a USB flash drive or USB connection to your computer.
Once you've moved your old cassette music to the digital domain you can clean up the audio if you're into that sort of thing. Or you can just lay back, close your eyes and remember the good times you had back in the day, when you and your sweetheart used to listen to your faves on cassette for hours at a time.
Your PL5CSUB Cassette To PC Tape Archiver And Digital Media Converter isn't just another audio gizmo. It's a time machine.

Great sound and simple to use. Very affordable when compared to similar products. The look is modern and fits well along side my other tv and sound devices.

I feel I overpaid a little on this product. For [$]I expected the quality to be a little better. I've been using it for a weak to archive cassettes. That works okay. Depends on the condition of your cassettes. Speakers are cheap quality. Be good to add them to a flat tv with poor sound. A very basic device. Audacity is not Pyle's software. Audacity is freely downloadable off the internet. You are paying for the ability to rip cassettes onto pc. When done with cassettes you can use it as add on speakers.

Comments about Pyle Pro PL5CSUB Cassette To PC Tape Archiver And Digital Media Converter:
This unit does the job, but just barely. The tightness of the tape-playing mechanism makes it hard to insert tapes, and the eject button requires a nearly-painful thumb push to get them out. The unit lacks a rewind button. It will only play a tape at regular speed, or fast-forward. So you must flip the tape and run it forward to find a cut to record or listen to.
The Audacity program provided for recording to computer is on a mini-disc that will not load into an Apple laptop's disc drive. Fortunately, the program is Open Source and can be downloaded from the web. It is quite different from the one described in the manual, but with a little tinkering, it works.
