Completely agree with the below reviewer, the previous model was one of my favorite headphones of all time, great for working out and better sound quality than most headphones.

However, this "upgrade" is awful, with drastically downgraded sound and a new lack of portability (as the reviewer stated below, you need to keep these headphones in a clunky case in order to keep them folded.

Absolute waste of money. I'm already searching for someone selling the old MDR-A35's to replace these garbage headphones. Avoid at all costs.

Comments about Sony MDR-AS35W In-Ear Sports Headphones:

If you want a "sports style" headphone system, there are few choices. I was looking for something that is flexible/foldable and springy enough to stay on your head when active. This one is too rigid. Also, this model has a cord from EACH side which makes it as prone to tangling as earbuds.
Sony discontinued the best sports style headphone ever made, the MDR-A350, and has come up with nothing comparable since.
There are too many earbuds, huge studio-style phones and those uncomfortable things that hang on each ear on the market but nothing practical like the coilable, springy and great sounding MDR-A350. Get with it Sony!

Comments about Sony MDR-AS35W In-Ear Sports Headphones:

These phones are much less comfortable than the previous version, fitting uncomfortably far into the ear. Now that may increase isolation for music listeners, but I listen mostly to talk, and I don't like that much isolation personally. The short attached cord is made for wearing with an armband, but adding the enclosed extension cord made it way too long for using with a belt clip case. I wish I could get the previous model!

This set of headphones is pretty average. You get what you paid for. Adjusting the headphone around your head is a little work; the sound quality is mediocre at its best. It folds to its plastic carrying case, but the case is big. The older version from Sony was 10x better.

I have been looking for headphones that dont fall out while jogging. Salesman have sold me onto so many pairs of headphones that they swore wouldn't fall out of my ears. They all did. This fits over the head, and has been amazing. The sound quality is good too. I highly recommend this pair for jogging.

Best use for this type of headphone is for working out as it does not fall off. Sound quality is great for the price. I have used this design for years and I don't know why Sony added a rubber cover to the part that inserts in the ear. The rubber cover makes it a bit uncomfortable.

I use these headphones at the gym. I think that the sound is great, and I love that they fold up into a little case so the wire doesn't get tangled. I saw the reviews about the wire being too short. Because I am only 5' tall, the wire fits me perfectly (I hook it to my ipod on the bottom of my workout shirt), but I can see how the wire would be short for someone taller. I would definitely buy them again.

Comments about Sony MDR-AS35W In-Ear Sports Headphones:

These are the worst headphones I've ever bought. I returned them they day after I got them after putting them through the paces I need headphones for: when I run and when I ride my bike.

The reason I bought these is that I had the last model (which were half the price) and they sounded amazing, folded up nicely and were light and comfortable when running. Problem is, my cat chewed through them. So I decided to order the new seemingly better designed pair.

              Big mistake.

First off, they sound like the free headphones you get with a cell phone from the 90s. None of the deep bass and clear tones like the last model. You can't really see it in the pictures but they've covered the earbuds entirely with plastic (to protect from sweat I suppose) and the sound comes out of a few tiny holes that poke into your ear. Other than bad sound it creates another problem . . . you can't hear what's going on around you. That's one of the major reasons people get these instead of the kind that stick in your ear. When I'm riding my bike or running I want to hear some of the ambient sound so I can avoid people, cars, etc. The headphones also create a mind numbing whistling noise when riding faster than 10mph or when there is a slight breeze when running.

That's not even the worst part. The worst part is the folding design that depends entirely on some big ugly piece of plastic to keep them folded. Unbelievable how bad this is. I can't even explain.

I could go on and on but I'll leave it at this, They sound horrible and they're designed by someone who does not run, workout or ride their bike with headphones.
