The Rear View Safety Inc. RVS-300 Black Box is a camera system for recording the front view of the road from the inside of a vehicle. The camera attaches directly to the windshield using the supplied double sided foam tape. Video is recorded in the H.264 compression format and is stored to an SD card inserted into the camera. The RVS-300 includes a 4GB SD card and can record continuously for up to 37 hours with an optional 16GB SD card. WDR technology helps the camera maintain proper image exposure even when the vehicle is entering or exiting a tunnel, an important feature that wasn't available with previous camera versions.
A built-in GPS system records the location and speed of the vehicle and stores this data into memory. GPS data is recorded independently of video and will operate even when video is not being recorded. With its built-in 3-axis-shock sensor, the RVS-300 also has the ability to record jolts and bumps caused by the vehicle's movement. This way every aspect of the drive is documented.
Video can be viewed by transferring the SD card to a PC or by connecting the RVS-300 directly to a TV monitor via its stereo RCA A/V cables. An emergency button on the camera allows the driver to instantly record an emergency event.
A second camera (RVS-301) can be added to this system for recording the side, rear, interior, or any other view of your choice. Video from the second camera is recorded in tandem with footage from the main system camera.
Included with the system is a comprehensive software program for organizing and analyzing all the recorded data. This software uses Google Maps for its mapping program.

I almost got the blame for an accident in which the other driver was at fault, so I decided to get this camera to record any mishaps in the future.
I installed the camera by my rearview mirror and ran the cable around the top and right side of the windshield, below the glove compartment and into the powerplug in front of my shifter. The cable is plenty long and came with clips and zipties to secure it in place.
I like how you can set the camera for either event or continuous recording, but the continuous recording only looks good for the first 20-25 seconds before the video starts "skipping" along with the sound. In Event mode the video and sound quality are always good. So is the quality when you press the button for emergency recording.
The camera adjusts to changes in lighting quickly, although night driving footage is pretty dark when there is no street lighting.
Overall I am happy with the product. I would give it 5 stars if the continuous recording didn't skip after the first 20-25 seconds.
