Comments about Celestron Nature Series 8x42 Roof Prism Binocular:

These are very good for the price. I think they are just as good as more expensive models/brands. Make sure you read the instructions so you can learn all about them.

I'm very happy with my purchase. Buying from BH was a great experience.

I've been a fan of Celestron binoculars for some time.Own three sets of the Skymaster series for long range terrestrial and celestial viewing and have nothing but positive remarks. I wanted a compact pair for glassing wildlife and these deliver. If your looking for a budget priced pair of quality binoculars as compared to higher end high priced optics I would not hesitate to purchase this item.

Comments about Celestron Nature Series 8x42 Roof Prism Binocular:

I bought the Nature Series 8x42 Roof Prism Binocular to go along with the purchase of a new Celestron telescope, as I read that binocs are also very useful for amateur astronomy. Plus, I thought I could use them for other things - birdwatching, going on safari, etc., not gaping at the neighbors, I promise. I'm really happy with them. I did some research in advance, and I think they are a very good strength for my amateur astronomy purposes, as they have a nice wide field of view and strong magnification, while also being easy to carry and to hold steady. They are also tripod-attachable, but I haven't tried that. I have two small kids, and the last thing I want to do on my down time is lug heavy binocs around my neck or add them to a bag already laden with sippy cups, snacks and other gear. They are weighty but not too heavy. They feel very nicely made, and some of my favorite features are the flip and hang lens caps that cover the "Objective Lenses." There are two types of covers: 1) the eyepiece and eyecup cover, which comes all the way off (it is one piece that covers both, which is great), but you can just flip down 2) the rubbery caps that go over the end of the Objective Lens tubes. You can flip them down separately, and they dangle from the binocs without falling off! This means no fussing with finding a good place to put them or finding them later on (even if I have to do that with the other eye cap piece, which is smaller, but they would hang down on your face, which wouldn't be great). The binocs also come with a nice case and strap. They are waterproof, too! I'm very happy with these and will surely enjoy them for a long time. I'm also really impressed with the price - it seems so reasonable compared with the quality; they easily seem like they would be much more expensive.

Nature/creature watching. An upcoming cruise to Alaska. They are comfortable to hold, light benough to hold for longer periods and the focus is phenominal - crystal sharp.
The puny strap is not worth even putting on. I immediately put a camera strap on.

Comments about Celestron Nature Series 8x42 Roof Prism Binocular:

I recently purchased the Celestron 8x42 binocular and I could not be more please with it. I've purchased Celestron products in the past, and always seem to get a little more quality than I expected. In this case, I believe that I got a lot more than expected. For the price, these are outstanding. Very clear, easy to focus and solid feeling. I'm sure there are better binoculars out there, but nowhere near this price point. I like the wide field of view and brightness of the 8x42 (over the 10x42). I also like the rubber coating over aluminum tubes. The case that these come with is also well made and has a usable belt loop. The only things I can knock are the binocular strap and strap for the case, as they are a little cheaply made (but much better than others are equipped with in this price range, as you usually just get a cord). Overall this pair of binoculars is very well done. B&H has the best price on these that I could find, and shipping to the west coast was fast.

I bought these for nature and sports and racing events. The reviews were almost all good everywhere I looked. The view is crisp and contrasty. The cam-lock eye cups work with precision as does the focus knob. Very smooth and fine-tunable. 8x magnification is as high as you want to go for easy viewing without a tripod. You can't beat these for the money.

Bought the binoculars to take when out photographing. They are really great for spotting birds and other wildlife. I would buy them again.
I don't like the case strap which is not removable. I recommended that they make strap removable, or upgrade the case strap.

Comments about Celestron Nature Series 8x42 Roof Prism Binocular:

                  I'm Biologist and Ornithologist.
I already had a celestron binocular before this one, but was a Outland 8x42. The Outland have very good optics and are very strong. But, suddenly mine start to fog it's left lenses from inside, besides it was Water & Fogproof. I do believe that it started just because of many travels that I did and only carrying with it's soft case, and they are real soft.
Now I bought those Celestron Nature to substitute my old and broken Outland.
All that I can say is that if the Outland was good, this Nature Series are a way better. The optics that I already liked in the Outland are even better now, and the body construction seems to be stronger either.
The minimum focus distance of about 2.5 meters are very welcome in birdwatching, and the fully multi-coated lenses realy justify the higher price, comparing to the Outland.
This Binocular is better than the Outland in every aspect and I'm very satisfied with it.

Comments about Celestron Nature Series 8x42 Roof Prism Binocular:

Bought these as a gift for my sister, who wants to use them for birding, watching rocket-launches, and even astronomy. I'm a serious astro-imager, so I checked the optics by looking at stars (which is really the most challenging target). Well, they performed quite well with pin-point stars across the entire field. 8x is a good magnification for handheld use without too much shaking, and 42mm aperture delivers an 42/8 = 5.25mm exit pupil, which is just right for middle-aged and older eyes. In other words, these binoculars are the exact right size. No reason to buy bigger binos unless you mount them on a tripod. (OK, maybe 9x50s would be good, too, but I can't find any. I have 9x63, which are big and heavy and only benefit younger eyes. I bought them when I was younger and desired a 7mm exit pupil. Today, I would buy the 8x42s for myself.)
Compared to other binos, most are plastic. These are made of metal, so very durable. I like the attached lens-caps and the extendable eye-cups -- nice touches. Eye-cups are also a nice size to fit your face; some binos have too large of eye-cups and hit your brow, so you can't block much light from the sides. These work well and are comfortable.
