The Kata D-Light Bumblebee-210 Backpack (Black) is a stylish, functional lightweight, protective backpack which is designed to carry camera gear and everyday personal effects, and can easily convert into a simple and useful daypack when not using or carrying a camera. The pack is made from lightweight, durable Ripstop nylon and polyester mesh exterior with TST rib structure that provides protective zones for the camera where it will most likely be impacted by shock, vibration plus Aeriform foam that is made of perforated super light laminated and reinforced EVA and EPE foams. The Yelloop interior is a bright yellow material for viewing the contents with ease and attaching any optional Modi-Vers dividers.
The D-Light Bumblebee-210 Backpack is designed with a double compartment concept; the lower compartment has a special padded camera insert and Aeriform dividers to fit a D-SLR with standard lens attached, 2-3 lenses (up to a 70-200 f/2.8 not attached), flash and accessories. In the upper compartment there is plenty of space for personal effects. When needed the camera insert can be removed and the zippered partition between the two compartments opened to create one large storage space. A rear laptop slot will hold most laptop computers with a screen up to 15.4". A variety of external pockets will store accessories and personal gear that need rapid access such as, wallet, phone, water bottle etc. The pack has tripod connecting straps that can be attached to the side of the backpack and a detachable rain cover for protection in rough weather conditions.
The D-Light Bumblebee harness system has a 3D soft molded foam back for comfort and ventilation, an Aeriform foam padded harness which is uniquely shaped to provide comfort and non-slip grip, an adjustable sternum strap and a stabilizing waist strap. There are 2 specially designed connection loops for the Reflex E camera strap that is used to carry the D-SLR camera comfortably and take the camera load off the neck. The EPH (Ergonomic Photo System) is designed with connection tabs to enable interconnections with other Kata products. There is an Insertrolley connection that is used to place the pack over a rolling bag handle, when this is in use the harness simply tucks out of the way.

As the resident amateur at work, I do some very light photography when we can't afford a pro or when it's a relatively simple set of shots to get. But it's frequent enough that I found myself hauling my messenger bag w/ laptop and my camera bag and my tripod pretty frequently. I also travel a few times a year and like to bring my camera. So this bag -- which is still fairly light even with my 7D, two lenses, battery charger, laptop, and laptop charger -- fits my needs perfectly. I can haul my gear to work in the same bag; I can take it on a plane easily; and I can cram plenty of extras in there with no problem.Having the camera on the bottom pouch means you have to take the bag off, lay it on its back, and then get it out, but that's a minor issue and not really what this is for.

Love Kata bags, but this one was too small for me. I also felt like the day pack was too big comparative to photo compartment. Wish it was other way around.
I ended up returning it

Very lightweight and comfortable. Easily accommodates my D600, 3 lenses, flash, tripod, and laptop. The extra compartment on top works well for misc non photo gear. Exactly what I was looking for.

Comments about Kata D-Light Bumblebee-210 Backpack (Black):
I bought this bag to be somewhere in between my National Geographic bag & my shoulder bag. It fits the job just about perfectly. It's comfortable & with the addition of a bungee tie, holds one compact light stand on the outside comfortably. The lower compartment opens to your gear with the usual velcro compartments, the upper compartments are more "open" for your other miscellaneous stuff. If I have one complaint it's that the lower compartments feel a bit "squished" at times & I think my newer (less durable) plastic lenses have some weight against them during travel & may eventually become damaged. I should probably either stuff it less full of gear or shuffle the lenses around so the cheap plastic ones aren't on the bottom.I would buy it again & would recommend it to a friend.

Comments about Kata D-Light Bumblebee-210 Backpack (Black):
The bag looked great, well made. I ordered it so I can take with me my camera and some lenses and a laptop. To my surprise i could only fit my Nikon 70-200 in the bottom of the bag if the lens was horizontal and after that I didn't have enough room to put my full frame camera with attached normal lens. The top part of the bag is bigger then bottom and would nicely fit a lot of personal stuff. Unfortunately I had to return the bag because I couldn't even fit a camera body and 2 lenses. I didn't buy the bag with the intention to have all my gear in it but to have a nice backpack when I have to carry with me some equipment and extra clothes and some snacks. If you carry with you smaller lenses then this bag is great. I have couple other Kata bags and I love them.

Bought it, took it out into the field the next day and it was very useful to have the space to take my laptop without the need for a second bag. It has a good number of compartments and the rain cover is a nice addition. Fits my D7000 plus three lens, cables and some other junk all in the camera compartment on the bottom.
Straps and back padding are comfortable and the pack fit just right.

Getting ready to embark on a 6-month journey for a photography project/school, I needed to find a backpack that could carry my Nikon D7000, my 3 lenses, and my macbook, and still have some extra room for clothing or a packed lunch. After researching, I finally decided on this bag. I like the quality of the bag, it feels super durable. The only reason I gave it 4 stars, is because of how it opens to get to my camera. You have to lay the bag down so your gear doesn't fall out. Other than that, I love the bag.

Comments about Kata D-Light Bumblebee-210 Backpack (Black):
There is no perfect backpack, but this one comes close. Easily handles my Canon 7D with 24-105 f/4L attached, 17-40 f/4L and two other lenses, plus a 580EXII flash and miscellaneous accessories. I don't usually travel with my 70-200 f/2.8L, but could reconfigure the bottom compartment to handle it or put it in the top compartment.
On a recent trip, carried a 15.4" laptop in the laptop slot; an iPad, Nook and variety of other stuff in the main upper compartment; and passport, travel papers, wallet, mobile phone and other items in the other compartments. Primarily because of the laptop, the pack was heavy, but comfortable. It was easy getting on and off the plane.
I like the ability to attach a tripod on the side of the pack.
Although I generally wear the backpack when walking with my luggage, the sleeve on the back (for the Kata Insertrolley) can be slipped over the handle to hold it in place while walking with the suitcase.
I am extremely happy with the backpack and highly recommend it.

The backpack is great for traveling! It accommodates my Canon 40D camera, 3 lenses (of course not like 70-200/2.8) and a flash, plenty of small camera gear (like filters, lenspens, caps and so on) plus 13' laptop and 2 sweaters in case you get cold. It is not so awfully big as other Kata backpacks, and for me it is a plus.
It is quite ergonomic, so carrying your stuff for the whole day is not a big issue.
The only drawback for me is that your equipment is not so easily accessible as in more expensive models.

I use this bag for school. When I am going to go shoot after classes I bring this bag and it fits all my gear, tripod, notebooks, and my laptop. It gets pretty heavy when fully packed but that is to be expected. But do not expect to fit big textbooks along with five notebooks. I usually bring a couple folders which fit in the laptop slot and two/three notebooks in the upper compartment.
It's also great how the camera compartment can be removed to give me more space when I don't need my camera. The rain covering that the bag comes with is very handy. I've used it many times and it keeps everything very dry.
The removable compartment is great but it is a pain to put back into the bag. But that's only a small annoyance.

Comments about Kata D-Light Bumblebee-210 Backpack (Black):
I took this backpack on a wilderness fly fishing trip into the Alaska backcountry near southwest corner of Denali N.P. I carried a small HD video camera, a GoPro HD waterproof camera, and a small digital still camera. Also in the pack, extra GoPro mounts, extra rain gear for me, bug juice, water bottle and carried a tripod on the exterior strap. The pack was heavy but rode well. I never felt off-balance crossing some strong current streams. The included rain cover was priceless. We had Alaskan drizzle for several days running and it kept the gear dry. I used the same pack on a domestic news gathering trip during Hurricane Irene and felt it carried enough stuff. The internal dividers are a blessing for sensitive gear, and a little annoying when you are just trying to use it as a backpack, but most are removable. Workmanship was excellent. In a month it's had a lot of abuse and doesn't show it.
