The Cavision 4 x 4" Neutral Density (ND) 1.5 Filter has several uses and offers the possibility to achieve otherwise unachievable results. It enables the shooter to adjust exposure without affecting color balance. ND filters appear gray and reduce the amount of light reaching the film.
Determining which neutral density filter yields ideal results for any given lighting situation takes knowledge, experience and a collection of such filters. Speaking generally, the 2-stop value (ND 0.6) effectively compensates average situations.
Cavision is a Canadian company specializing in quality filters for film, broadcast and video productions. They also produce a variety of equipment including 3 x 3" and 4 x 4" matte boxes, boom poles and wide angle attachments for TV cameras.

Comments about Cavision 4 x 4" Neutral Density (ND) 1.5 Filter:
I have a whole set of Cavision ND's, mostly because I couldn't justify spending over 2x for better name brands. I use them with a DSLR and vintage Nikon lens, and don't notice any degradation in image when I'm using them, even when I stack them. Perhaps the nasty compression of DSLR hides any imperfections. The only thing is, they allow a lot of IR pollution. I've ordered their hot mirror to try and alleviate this, but I haven't got that yet.

Nice and fairly neutral color. Nicely made and good optical quality. Better than plastic ones.

Comments about Cavision 4 x 4" Neutral Density (ND) 1.5 Filter:
I own the Cavision .3,.6,.9,1.5 and CPL and they are all great for the cost.
There is a slight amount of softening in the image when compared to a Tiffen, but great for budget/indie shoots, especially in the HD world.

Comments about Cavision 4 x 4" Neutral Density (ND) 1.5 Filter:
- It's a great filter without any color shift when compared to shutter speed matched footage on my DSLR.
- The glass is solid and doesn't feel cheap.
