I'm a pro photographer/videographer. I wanted a tripod that would hold both by DSLR and JVC cams and give me fluid motion. This one does that. It is rock solid. Not hard to level. I shot in a slipper, muddy construction site last week without problem.

It is heavy though and hard to manage without a proper case. Forget throwing it over a shoulder.

The tripod is JUNK. I am so disappointed with it, I have used it VERY lightly with a Panasonic AF100 and the only added weight was a Audio Technica shot-gun. In other words WELL within the spec'd weight limit. I have used Manfrotto products for years, and have always had a positive experience, but this thing is not, in any way, as well-built and secure as the 3191 I replaced. I wish I could get that one back. Now I am stuck with a tripod that looks brand new, but will not support more than 4-5 pounds without one leg sliding out. The worst part is the way the lock is designed, you cannot tighten the mechanism! If you do the cheap plastic bracket pops-off the pivot screw. If you are pro and use anything heavier than a un-accessoriezed DSLR, avoid this thing like the plague. Note in the picture how the cheap plastic lock pops off the screw if you tighten, once this happens you have yourself a $ piece of scrap metal.

Solid sticks for the price. The only frustrating this for me is that it takes some time to reposition the legs, but once it's set you're golden.

Use this with a 502 HD head and it is very stable. I use it with an AG-AC160A and it is both smooth and steady. The extra weight gives me room to grow.

Setup can be complicated at first, with the mid-spreader, but it is easy to sort out.

Comments about Manfrotto 546B Pro Video Tripod with Mid-level Spreader:

Good tripod for studio and interview work. The spreader arms are awkward to set up and combined with the two releases for each leg would make this unit clumsy in the field when fast set-ups are required. However, this tripod is sturdy and a good match for my Manfrotto 504 HD head and 524 zoom which is the way I will use it.

I've only had this for a few weeks, but so far I like it. I've not had a problem with the spreader, but I am careful when I set it up and tear it down. The height is great -- we shot a wedding last week and had no problem getting the camera up over most people's heads. The leg latches are very stiff, so this isn't a super fast setup.

Manfrotto 546B Tripod is some the best tripod legs I have used thus far. I have been working in Film since 2005 and I have used all kinds of set ups.
I would brake down the item, but they would all get five out of five in my book.

Comments about Manfrotto 546B Pro Video Tripod with Mid-level Spreader:

I shoot video mostly with a 504HD head and I use these legs. The mid level spreader snapped on the first day. I bought a ground level spreader after that. I've had to tighten the fasteners as they began to slip. My rig is not very heavy ( a 5d Mk2 with a juciedlink attached and a Canon 28-300mm lens mostly). This tripod looks the part but I am disappointed with the overall construction. I'm switching to the 536 4-section carbon fibre. I love Manfrotto products as I own a few of their tripods but this one I would not recommend. To make matters worse the 504HD head is not that great either. The leveller fell out and the covers fell off. By the way my tripod is only six months old and i look after my gear.

I use these legs as support for any and every camera I've touched. They truly are a sweet set of legs. Very sturdy, very strong and very industrial. No loose parts here. Great feet and locking rings. Pretty tall set of legs too. Slap a head on these beauties and you got your dream girl. Toss the 504 Fluid Head and you can go ahead and curl up to coziness. Easy and sweet. Maybe a little thick to travel with though...

Comments about Manfrotto 546B Pro Video Tripod with Mid-level Spreader:

Not a Vinten but still nice. I wish it had a bit more heft so as to hold still when smaller cameras are on it - hence 4 starts.
