This thing is a tank. I haven't been using it very long, but the thing supports my AF100 with decent sized lenses at it at extreme angles. I thought this was incredible, because that setup is probably pushing about 7.5 pounds. I use it in combination with my metal Gorillapod, you just need a 1/4" adapter to go with it, so I use the Pearstone 1/4-20 F to SHOE MOUNT F ADAPTER - PEAFF1420. What a great combination. When you loosen the head lock, it will spin left to right and of course the ball head will move anyway you want it to. Very secure and very versatile. It is a bit on the heavier side for it's size, but that's because it's made out of quality materials.

If you have lots of space and don't mind the weight, it is a very good device. It is well built, heavy & strong. It has a huge footprint. It is not flexible, the side lock down knob cannot be moved to a different orientation, like in the back or front. Other similar devices like this allow you to re-orient the lock down knob.

I was going to use this with my camcorder to hold a Datavideo recorder. I couldn't mount it, because the large knob is SO BIG - it got in the way of my microphone. Unfortunately, I'm returning it.

Yes it's expensive, but it is so worth it. Finally a shoe mount that I can put my monitor on and not worry about it twisting, rotating, and falling. This thing is solid and it just feels great on your camera. It has a nice big knobs for tightening. Really great product here.

This is just the right size to hold a 7" monitor on my rig. It is somewhat extra sturdy for that purpose, which is just what I want. I can use it in a cold shoe or screw down.

Before this I used cheap imitations from @ and @. Spent between $ and $. I broke very single one of them. I gave up and spent the $ for this mount and it is awesome. Great adjustability and with a moderate crank of the handle, it holds its position. Great product and worth the money!

I like it when I can abuse my gear without worry of something coming loose or failing. This micro ball head mount is one of those things I could not go without on a job. It is a bit on the heavy size but it comes with piece of mind; I attach my ninja blade on this and it won't budge.

I use this Manfrotto shoe mount adapter on top of my Sony camcorder to hold my new Switronix TorchLED Bolt 220 light. They were meant for each other. The adapter that comes packaged with this light is to lightweight to hold the light firmly when moving the camera around. This Manfrotto adapter can hold it, no problem. You will never have to worry about anything you use with this adapter getting loose or falling off your camera. This will obviously save your gear from damage. Thank you Manfrotto for making this adapter, worth every penny.

With a simple twist of the tension knob, this ball head articulates easily. Very light. Quick to set up and easy to store in a small pouch in my camera bag. Price is a bit high but you get what you pay for.

Comments about Manfrotto 492LCD Micro Ball Head:

Alright, i went through FOUR cheaper models to hold my 5.6" field monitor on my camera. Trying to save money, i spent more on the others than i would have if i had just bought this one in the first place. The others might as well go in the trash, i'll never touch them again.

The 492LCD Micro Ball Head from Manfrotto does not slip. It holds my monitor perfectly at any angle. On top of that, the crank to loosen it for adjustment is very easy to use. Other models you had to tighten so much just hoping to get it to stick, then i couldn't loosen them. It also makes a solid connection to the hot shoe, tightens perfectly. Very easy to use.

The Manfrotto is a bit large and heavy, but if you're looking to hold up a monitor or even a semi-large camera light. I can't imagine finding a better product. I'll deal with the extra few ounces of weight because everything about it makes things so much easier. I actually had one cheaper model that was heavier and still slipped.

I have nothing bad to say about it. It deserves the 5 stars i'm seeing as of 3/28/14. Spend a bit more and the difference is amazing.

The micro ball head by Manfrotto did a great job of holding my 10" monitor on top of my 7D. The large knobs are great for adjustments and hold tight. A bit pricy, but a clear view of your shoot is worth it.

I bought this to hold my Switronix torch led bolt light. It is the perfect pair. Built like none other. This is just want I need to keep that heavy light from moving around. The ball head that came with the light is worthless. This is a wonderful piece!

A little bigger than the others available but it just works and hold very good.
