The width of the window is 57mm but the pointer showing the frequency has a range of only 33mm, which makes tuning harder than necessary. A finer scale below and above the window would have helped.
The radio has a strong sound, is quite selective, feels solid and is unbelievably cheap. I mention the above two things because it seems they could have been avoided without added cost.

When our little black Panasonic pocket radio finally gave up after 38 yrs of loyal service (received it as a gift on our 25th ann'y in 1974), I had to replace it with a new Panasonic. I didn't know if they even made them anymore. I'm hoping it will serve us as well as that old reliable one....so far, so good !

simple, basic, durable, small, light, clear & loud, and it apparently has a respectable little AM coil antenna built in. I throw it in a motorcycle trunk and carry it to work and everywhere else I go. It does have an earphone jack but didn't come with earphones, no problem, they are cheap and easy to find anywhere.

The Panasonic RF-P50 FM/AM Pocket Radio is a very capable analog receiver of traditional radio broadcasts. The radio's performance and feature set is generally good. Sound quality emanating from its 2 ¼ inch monaural speaker is enjoyable and detailed, but not spectacular. FM/AM reception is clear on this very small portable. It is very easy to tune in my favorite sports radio stations on the AM band and classic rock broadcasts on the FM band via its slide-rule tuning control. A red LED indicator lights up when you have locked in on a particular station. The LED tuning indicator is a great feature, as it allows me to tune in stations accurately in low light conditions and lets me know that the radio is powered on. I have not felt the need to extend the telescopic whip antenna frequently when listening to my favorite FM radio stations. AM performance is of very high quality off the internal ferrite bar antenna. This Panasonic RF-P50 radio does not demonstrate any selectivity or sensitivity issues in its day-to-day performance. I am able to receive every FM and AM station that is intended for the radio market that I reside in. AM DX reception performance is adequate for this product category. The Panasonic RF-P50 pocket radio features list include: analog slide-rule tuning dial, FM/AM tuner, rotary volume/power control, FM/AM band selector switch, 3.5mm earphone jack, FM telescopic whip antenna, built-in AM ferrite bar antenna, FM/AM dial scale, LED tuning indicator, carry strap, battery compartment, attractive silver finish, decent build quality, and operating instructions. The Panasonic RF-P50 radio is powered by two AA batteries and offers great battery life. The Panasonic RF-P50 FM/AM pocket radio is lightweight and is a great companion for a family picnic, walks in the park, listening to the ballgame, and to stay informed when there is an emergency weather or power outage situation. Overall rating is 4.5 stars. I like this Panasonic FM/AM pocket radio. Good Luck. Enjoy.

FM is very strong and easy to tune. AM is a little harder to tune and is not as strong as FM. However, I got decent AM reception if I carefully and slowly tuned. For the price, you can't beat it. It's a good option for a home emergency radio.
