The transmitter operates on one 3V CR2450 battery, and the receiver uses 2x AA batteries (included). Included in the kit are a mini to mini cable, a mini to phono adapter, and a submini to pc cable. Sure you can spend a couple of hundred more but why? It's VERY reliable, triggers 100% of the time, has incredible (understated) range, both indoor and out and has proven itself time and time again. As a result, I have purchased more receivers.

This item delivers bang for the buck. If you are making any money as a photographer, go buy a PocketWizard. For everyone else, I'm suprised by the build quality and test results so far for the price.

I was nervous buying this due to it's lower price point and country of origin, but the reviews on BH were not fluff...

Comments about Impact PowerSync16 DC Radio Slave System:

I shoot portraiture and use these on my studio flashes and sometimes on my Speedlite when on location. I bought my unit over 8 months ago and although I have shot over 8000 frames with it, I have never had a failure.

Before that, I had been using a much cheaper brand with very mixed results. They would only sync at 1/60th and even then, they would sometimes fail giving me half exposed frames which is very bad when you just think you made a great shot and look in the display and see a part of the picture in black...

If you are a new Strobist with a limited budget and are looking for a trigger, I would urge you to not get the cheapest out there wait a few extra weeks and get this one.

This unit will give you the peace of mind of knowing your equipment will not fail. The few extra bucks will be well worth it.

And another plus is that it can also be used as a shutter release with an accessory cable.

I bought the radio triggers to use with my strobe heads as well as my strobist kit. I have fired over 2000 shots with them without a single misfire. Very reliable, very compact and about 1/4 the price of some other leading triggers. I would highly recommend them to those that need to get the job done but my not have the monry to shell out for other brands.

If you're looking for something affordable, durable, reliable and dummy-proof; this is for you. I recently purchased this kit for my outdoor shoots and I am beyond satisfied. No matter what stands between the transmitter and receiver, my strobe still goes off, even if it's down the hall in another room (I tested it). The distance covered indoors and outdoors are outstanding and my strobe fired EVERY single time I needed it to. Not mention, they're small and lightweight. This is a really great product and I'm happy with my purchase. I will be buying more receivers in the future.

For the money, it doesn't get better than this. The combo of receiver and transmitter ae easy to use and make it a walk in the park to fire off your big guns in-synch. If you don't want to be a "slave" to PocketWizard (and the high price) this product is a perfect surrogate. Highly recommend this to any serious photographer.

Comments about Impact PowerSync16 DC Radio Slave System:

I have 1 Powersync 16 transmitter and 2 Powersync 16 receivers. I connect the transmitter directly to my camera hotshoe and I connect each receiver directly to my Speedlites (you can also connect with sync cords if you have the proper connections on your camera and flash units). I shoot home studio portraits and products and also shoot a little outdoors in the field. I've had the system about 2 months. Please keep in mind if you opt for this system, you'll be shooting in manual flash mode, which is my preference with off camera flash. Right out of the box I was very pleased with this system. The receivers were about the size I expected, but I couldn't believe how small and lightweight the transmitter was. Basically, you install the batteries, which come with the units, attach the transmitter to you camera, attach receiver to your light, turn the power on, and you are ready to shoot. Other than making sure the transmitter and receiver are on the same channel, there are no other adjustments. I've taken about 2,500 shots with these units and I've had maybe 10 failures to fire. I've had no problem shooting at max sync of 1/250sec. I've tried shooting at 1/320 sec but I start to get a little darkness on the frame edge. I haven't had a chance to test the range yet, but they have handled at least 40ft outdoors no problem. So far I couldn't be happier with the system.

Comments about Impact PowerSync16 DC Radio Slave System:

Works reliably- didn't misfire once in my initial testing. Admittedly, I haven't tried it at more than about ten feet, which is usually all I need.

Very well conceived as a system. Nice touches like the two adhesive holders for attaching it to two different power packs, or mono lights. Suggestion: don't drive yourself crazy trying to figure out the lanyard. If you want to use it, throw out the little loop of string and attach the lanyard to the receiver with the c-ring. The strange little pointed device works well for throwing the frequency switches and can be slipped onto the lanyard. You'll see what I mean.

Very well built with one exception: I don't think the tiny plastic catches on the transmitter battery compartment cover will last long. I would ignore the manufacturer's suggestion to use the cover as a tool to throw the frequency switches. Best to leave it in place and remove it only when you need to change the battery, which shouldn't be often. To switch frequencies use the fore-mentioned pointed tool on the lanyard.

I use a radio trigger exclusively with AC strobes, so I'm thinking that perhaps I should have chosen the AC-powered receiver instead of the battery-powered version. Perhaps I'll buy an AC receiver separately.

I heartily recommend this system. If you balk at paying hundreds for the "professional" model, this is your choice.

I am new to off camera flash and after checking out the lighting up and shoot website and youtube videos, i was sold. The number one thing that i like about the receiver is the multiple functionality. I am able to use either the hot shoe or the 3.5mm jack to connect my Vivitar 285 and Vivitar 283. Another neat feature is that you can run 2 flashes off one receiver. The way i connected them was one mounted on the hotshoe the other was connected to the same receiver via the 3.5 mm jack, both fired spot on. I know i am pleased with the purchase and would buy this item again and again. Just stay creative and never settle for second best.

I added this to my bag and the first day out, it worked perfectly. I was doing an on site glamour shoot and needed the flexibility / mobility.
I shoot with Canon gear, attached it, and didn't look back. I connected it to my studio lights, then even tried it with my EX480 flash.

                          I would definitely recommend this.

[...] these don't seem to give enough voltage to power my Sunpak PZ42X. They trigger the flash but it only looks like .005% of the light is leaving the flash. I see a thin rectangular blip in the flashes' actual light tubes when I press the shutter or test button, nothing else. Tried this with and w/o the Impact Sync Hotshoe Pc cord for Pocket Wizards. No biggie tho', I've been planning on upgrading to a Metz or Canon 580, now it's just sooner than I wanted to. I've had 2 of the Sunpaks lose their tension, I'm done with them. Thought I could squeeze one last job out of them. These are a little frail buildwise but otherwise the trans fires the receiver every time so far.

All i have to say is : it's my first time using triggers and these worked excellent everytime for what i do, if jobs get technical in the future then i will just upgrade, but for now i'm just loving photography more and more because of these.... hey i bought 2 sets plus 2 extra receivers for a 2 photographer shoot at a large function and they all worked fine. I know i'll be using these for a long time as long as they don't malfunction.

This is a great product, it works just as expected and for the price of one pocketwizard you get the job done, it works great with tripods and hot shoes.

                            Perfect for studios or outdoors.

Comments about Impact PowerSync16 DC Radio Slave System:

This is one of the best value-for-the-money triggers in the market. Range is exceptional, getting farther and more reliable triggering than with PocketWizards, indoors and outdoors (must be the 2.4GHz at work). Better construction than Impact's PowerSync10: improved on-off switch, casing, and more compact size. Uses same AA batteries as Canon Speedlites, no need to carry spare AAA batteries like I used to with the PS10. Great improvement in Sync speed, matching Canon's 1/250, almost 2/3 stop gain there (PS10 had a 1/180 limit, but I typically shot at 1/160 for better results). Easy visual set-up for selecting any of 16 channels. Feels more sturdy when connected to speedlite via hotshoe. Nice sleek design. Overall, a great product. My only wish? That it could also control groups and power outputs/ratios remotely on manual flash settings for as many as 3 units or groups and high-speed sync above 1/250.
