This is a Product Key Code only, no media is included. The PKC is a non-transferable license that allows you to activate a copy of Office on a computer system that is preloaded with a trial edition of Office 2010. It is valid for one installation only.
The Office Home and Student 2010 Software from Microsoft is a suite of productivity applications for Windows. It includes a word processor (Word), spreadsheet application (Excel), presentation creation suite (PowerPoint), and information manager (OneNote). This version of Office is licensed for noncommercial use only.
- Word

He did not appear to have any knowledge of what was wrong and kept putting me on hold to talk to someone.

It's better to have some of the MS Office products than nothing. And you get what you paid for - at least you get MS Word and MS Excel and MS PowerPoint. In my opinion you get a minimal set of software for every day usage. Everything else is for more advanced users.
