So far, I am happy with this Umbrella Box.I bought it to use outside with my Canon flash.
Two things to consider:
1. Bad: The light doesn't spread out as evenly or as softly as when I bounce my flash off my black and silver umbrella.
2. Good: It doesn't blow over as easily as a regular bounce or shoot-through unbrella.
Conclusion:
Use my silver sided umbrella and bounce my flash when inside. Use the shoot through Umbrella Box when outside

This umbrella soft box is easy to set up and use, requires no mounting adapters. It is more light efficient than an umbrella but could be a little deeper for better light spread. I like using a 42in umbrella better as light is softer and wider spread.

I ordered two of these and one of them came with a couple pieces that came undone. It was an easy enough fix with a needle and thread, but still a pain to have to deal with on a brand new piece of gear. Overall, I think these will be very useful, though. This particular type of umbrella was kind of hard for me to find, and I was glad to find them on the B&H website.

I have been using it everyday since I purchased it 4 weeks ago and really like the nice soft even light that it produces. Have shot some comparison shots against a regular shoot through and can tell the difference with the amount of wrap you get with this as opposed to a regular shoot through, also there is not as much spill.
