Sandbags have been stabilizing light stands for a long time, but this Galaxy Audio Life Saver Sand Bag has been designed with sound equipment in mind--it has a unique doughnut shape that keeps the bag from sliding off the mic, speaker or lighting stand. The Life Saver is made from reinforced vinyl and weighs 38 lbs (17.23 kg) when filled with sand (not included) and 22 lbs (9.97 kg) when filled with water (not included). It's particularly effective when used to stabilize a mic stand with a boom.

Comments about Galaxy Audio Life Saver Sand Bag:
The Life Saver sand bag is exactly what was needed to place over the base of our outdoor directional sign. Heavy enough to keep the sign from being blown or knocked over by people walking by (we filled it w/sand). And because it surrounds the base of our sign, the Life Saver has made the sign and the sand bag itself theft proof. Everyone at the Hotel has commented how practical the product is.

Comments about Galaxy Audio Life Saver Sand Bag:
I have a light-weight lighting kit - speed lights, light-weight lightstands, etc. I use the Life Saver to stabilize a lightstand holding a softbox on a boom. It works well for this. I fill it with water when I get to the location, and empty it before I leave, so I have a good weight on site, and almost no weight to carry around. As long as you can get water at your location, this is a great way to have a 22-lb weight that turns into a few ounces when you're in transit.
I've only used it a couple of times so far, so I can't comment on its durability.

I use these to replace the Photoflex "water bag" I use to have. I shoot a lot on the beach, and travel international. Impossible to carry weight bags along! So theses are perfect, I always find water wherever I go! I use them on light stands and also on a Kessler crane (to replace the "gym weights") when I shoot video with DSLR's. Looks like they are built solid (the plastic is thick) and they are basically perfect for travel.

Comments about Galaxy Audio Life Saver Sand Bag:
I have been trying to find a solution to some of my tripod mic stands toppling over with heavy microphones and this is it! It did take some effort to go get the sand to put in this thing and then about 30 minutes to fill it up using a funnel. However, I feel that the time setting it up and hauling it around from gig to gig is worth the effort so far. It works great at weighing mic and lighting stands down and really is a life saver (haha)!

Comments about Galaxy Audio Life Saver Sand Bag:
This is the solution to the "tippy" mic stand. The boom mic stand has to be just about fully extended in both directions for our drummer/back-up vocalist. With a goose neck and microphone, keeping it from his lap was tricky to say the least. The Life Saver Sand Bag is definitely the ticket to solving the problem until we can go wireless. Quality product, Very pleased
