I am a professional sound mixer. I appreciate and value Petrol products and have owned several models of their mixer bags and production bags over the years.
I purchased this harness after comparing and evaluating other mixer harnesses, and found the Petrol to be the all-around best match for my PS617 Deca bag system and my back!

I'm a professional field recorder since now 2 years and just upgraded my kit a lot with this item.
- Way more comfortable
- Light
- More pockets for wireless mics and other acc.
The only bad thing I could say is that it doesn't have enough support for the lower back.

Comments about Petrol PS605 Deca Heavy Duty Harness:
Bulky but very ergonomic and comfortable with a fully loaded Eargonizer large bag. Took a while to experiment and figure out the best way to fit it and to hook it up (the bottom hooks go to the front d-rings on the bottom of the bag...). I recommend to have someone help with the adjustment while you are wearing it.
Plenty of loops to hang stuff from it as well as a place for two of those wireless cases, which could be used for anything really (pens, phone, etc.)
The harness already came with 1 wireless case already attached and its own mesh carry case. No manual though. I would have loved to just follow steps to adjust the harness and go but spent some time to figure it out. Once you figure it out, though, its no problem.

Comments about Petrol PS605 Deca Heavy Duty Harness:
This is one of the more versatile harnesses on the market. It is highly adjustable. I am 6' and of average build and am able to get a very comfortable fit with the harness attached to my Wendt X4 mixer and radio receivers (in a Porta-Brace custom bag). It is easy to see there would be no problem if I was significantly taller, shorter, fatter or thinner, or If I was using other equipment. I doubt the attachment points for equipment would be a problem either. The padding is very good and well ventilated. You might opt for less padding for long hot jobs but the balance with comfort suits me well. The shoulder width is fixed but I would imagine it working well for a wide range of frame sizes. Obviously try before you buy if you have a chance and you think you could be out of its size range. The photos here don't show it but the boom pole holder is a nice feature. It mounts for both left and right handed use, as does everything else. This is a very customisable harness and has to be the best bang for your buck out there. Simply a lot of harness for the money.

Hey guys guess what. Ladies are Sound Guys too, and this harness does a great job of accommodating the 'girls' and adjusts down to fit my smaller frame. It is not as bulky as I find the Porta-Brace harness to be when lifting my boom over my head. I attach my Porta-Brace gear bag, which is no problem, and it evenly distributes the weight without strain. (gear is Shure FP-33, SD702, battery brick, 2 wireless receivers}. But when it's time to upgrade I will most likely switch to a Petrol bag because I'm so impressed with the quality of this harness.

Comments about Petrol PS605 Deca Heavy Duty Harness:
I use this product on every shoots. It is nicely designed and friendly to those who are short, or with narrow shoulders (I am 5ft 8).
I had Versa-flex and Portabrace harnesses before. They all have pros and cons but Petrol is the best one for the overall quality.
Versa-Flex is better for who has really wide shoulders. If you don't have wide shoulders, you won't be able to lift your boom above your head as all the weight goes on your deltoids. If you are a big man (really big man) and carrying a big bag with Multi-track recorder with 7 or more receivers, heavy duty model Versa-flex is the way to go.
Portabrace is good for both big guys and small guys as it has width adjustment at the back. The one I had was the heavy duty model. Thanks to the memory foam, the harness was very comfortable. but after while it began to hurt my back. Could argue that it is matter of how I set up the rig. However, structurely having the the rings coming down from the front belt will put pressure on your neck/ upper back. I think rings should always be located at the meeting point of the upper and side belts.
Petrol Harness is very good, feels comfortable and if each of the belts are adjusted right, there will be no back pain. The built quality may not be as good as Prtabrace but it can withstand a bit of abuse. I particularly like the width of the harness. it doesn't hurt my deltoids to much when I hold the boom high.
Overall, I prefer The Petrol one.
My gear is Petrol deca bag 601 with SD552 mixer with 4 radio receivers.

It is great to use especially with my Petrol PS602 Deca Eargonizer Bag (Large).
Its down side for me is hooking it on and off the bag,it's not easy it takes a bit of time.
Also it's not favorable in hot weather conditions as it is heavy duty but the bottom line is it saves you from back pains as compared to the ordinary light weight harnesses.

i purchased this shortly after i bought the deca eargonizer. without this harness, the bag became heavy very quickly, loaded with a wendt x4 and sound devices 702 and wireless receivers. although it took a few minutes to figure out the connections, putting it on and taking it off is now very easy, and it makes carrying this great bag, so much easier. it has additional link points to hook up carabiners, for hanging headphones, i.d. badges, etc. it feels very comfortable, and distributes the weight evenly.

We use this harness with the new Decca Bags.
You can use it with non-Petrol bags too.
It is a very good harness at a great price.
Many ways to adjust and wear.
Good for most body-types.
I would compare it close to a Versa-Flex or Porta-Brace harness. I am sure everyone has an opinion on this. Versa-Flex is a bit more expensive, but is probably the most heavy-duty on the market.
However, we like this Petrol very much.
This harness will take you time to get it "where you like it" and it takes a bit to put on and gear up or take off. If you want something for speed and/or a very light-weight bag, this may not be the best choice...go with a harness that is a bit smaller and lighter.
For heavier bags and comfortable, longer wear times, this is a good match.
If you can, TRY IT ON, to see how you like it, before you buy it.
