The CS-10EM from Roland is a unique 2-in-1 product that allows you to create binaural recordings and monitor them at the same time. With the same form factor as in-ear headphones, each earpiece also holds a high-quality condenser microphone. Simply put them into your ears and connect them to a portable recorder such as the R-05 or R-09HR to record binaural stereo recordings of your environment. The microphones are powered by the recorder, accepting 2-10V.

You can choose to monitor your recording while it's being made, or play it back over the headphones after you're done recording. The closed in-ear design and multiple eartip sizes allow you to get a solid, comfortable fit in the ear that blocks out ambient noise and reduces feedback. The headphones have a pair of standard 3.5mm connectors, one for the mics and one for the headphones. In addition to the extra eartips, you also receive a convenient carrying pouch.

Works With Canon EOS 7D MKii DSLR

Comments about Roland CS-10EM Binaural Microphones/Earphones:

I can confirm that these microphones work properly with a Canon EOS 7D MKii DSLR without the need for any additional equipment. I've only recorded one very short test video, but even that was simply amazing. The surround sound effect is nothing short of incredible. I look forward to using these with my existing lenses that aren't STM, who's focusing mechanism would otherwise be audible if I only used the onboard microphone for videos on the DSLR.

My only complaint is somewhat nit-picky, but seriously, Roland, if you are reading these reviews, please change the black plastic packaging design. One of the headphones came out quite easily but the other was deeper and very difficult to remove. I don't have huge sausage fingers but I really struggled to get it out. I didn't want to pull it from the handle for fear of stressing/cracking the connection to the headphone.

Great value! This is definitely the easiest way to get started in binaural recording. The best part is that nobody can tell you're recording!

Comments about Roland CS-10EM Binaural Microphones/Earphones:

These binaural mics work great. It's wonderful that you can monitor as you record. The only downside I've seen is the low frequency response is extremely boomy. They are not very good for concert environments unless you want to do quite a bit of equalization.
On the other hand they work great for binaural recordings in nature. (walks on the beach, forests, rainy nights)

Comments about Roland CS-10EM Binaural Microphones/Earphones:

I recorded live performance of Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto, recorded Joe Satriani concert Impossible Momentum and Roger Waters - The Wall in Belgrade. The live recording from Roger Waters sounds much better than from O2 Arena. I just couldn't believe that it sounds so real. You feel the presence of all instruments. The sound engineer came to my studio and he was totally impressed by the sound quality of this recording and he didn't believe that all is done with Zoom H4N and Roland CS-10EM Microphones.binaural audio is the future of audio recording. So we just learning and using laws of nature to implement in technology.

I'm using these headphone microphones with the Roland r09. They record fantastic audio, they don't fall out of your ears, and are simple to set up. The quality of the 3d experience is great.

Comments about Roland CS-10EM Binaural Microphones/Earphones:

I loved the idea of this product - mic and monitor all in one! However, it does not yield the best results ... Also, you really can't monitor and record at the same time because of the reverb effect. The sound of the earphones are also on the darker side and not very accurate ...

Comments about Roland CS-10EM Binaural Microphones/Earphones:

This is just perfect for recording people on their comfortable state. People don't like to see microphone, and actually, the headphones on this sounds great!
Now, there is a little catch, you have to be careful when first connecting it because it gives background noise if the recording level is too high and headphone volume is too high. What's this type of recording good for? Birthday parties, and wedding. When you watch it again with headphones is like you are there!!! You even pause sometimes to make sure there is nobody be hide you. Note, in order for sense of distance you must make sure automatically gain level is turned OFF.
