The Roland GAIA SH-01 Virtual Analog Synthesizer is lightweight, features 37 velocity sensitive keys and 3 virtual analog sound engines that me be layered to achieve potent virtual analog sounds. In the tradition of the Roland SH series, the GAIA SH-101 puts the power of analog programing at your fingertips, with full control over the oscillators, filters, and ADSR controls.

In addition, a power effects engine further enhances your sounds with Delay, Echo, Reverb, Distortion and more. A 1/8" (3.5mm) input on the front panel will allow you to connect an MP3 player for jamming along with your favorite tunes, and its USB connector lets you send MIDI information, audio signal, and user data to a computer. And lastly, the GAIA SH-101 operates on either AC or battery power, making it completely portable.

Comments about Roland GAIA SH-01 Virtual Analog Synthesizer:

Why so many reviews of this unit are so negative on the net??? All complaints of sound being plastic/ thin are BS.Now to the truth, not only this VA synth, covers all categories of bass, leads, pads and FX; the controls are super easy and the learning curve is quick. Do yourself a favor a read the whole manual, it will not take more than an hour. Filters and appregio are excellent. Factory sound patches are superb. In my recordings it sits perfectly. USB to PC and USB flash patch save is awesome (1gb or 2gb flash stick will do)! I have not yet created my own patches but I am so busy using presets (with little tunage) on the first three banks in my recordings that I have not yet listened to all of the units sound capabilities. Recorded sound is warm! THE ONLY DOWNSIDE:Tempo selection. The only way to set tempo is through Tempo Tap or via usb using Roland's Gaia software listed here for 89. I will buy this in the near future just for the easier editing however I prefer the manual method. Quick solution to this on the samples that are not appregiated is using a external metronome to record your gear unless you sequencing it via midi. This unit also works as usb midi keyboard in your DAW (saving me money :)). Give this unit a try, comparing to the Nord Lead 2 that I had, it has way more usability and expansion and the sound is about 85 percent as good as Nord's. For [$] is a steal. Get yourself one when in stock.

Comments about Roland GAIA SH-01 Virtual Analog Synthesizer:

There is a little learning curve on this one with the different sections. There are certain limitations...unless I just haven't figured out to get around the challenge. The benefits far outweigh the difficulties, so if you own one of these just stick with it.
