A tripod head is required and not included with these legs. Be sure you purchase a tripod head to attach to your camera.
The Oben AC-2320L 3-Section Aluminum Lateral Tripod is a sturdy, professional support for any DSLR, point-and-shoot camera, or a compact camcorder. With a load capacity of 17.6 lb and a generous maximum height of 68.4", the lateral tripod features a tilting, swiveling center column that enables infinitely flexible positioning for macro photography and other uses.
Engaging the lateral adjustment lever frees the tilting of the center column once it's been extended past the chassis, which becomes possible once you press a button at the column's bottom to disengage the safety bolt. Once thus extended, the column can tilt, with no ratcheting, from its original 0°, straight-up-and-down orientation all the way over to a 180° upside-down orientation – with possible stops everywhere in between, including a 90° lateral position. Twisting a knob on the chassis locks and unlocks the 360° swiveling of the center column and its upper collar.
The tripod's flip locks, which enable the extension and securing of the leg stages, are user-adjustable. By using a supplied Allen key, the user can tighten two points on each spring-loaded flip lock to safeguard their continued reliable performance.
With its anodized aluminum construction, the AC-2320L is ready to survive the rigors of professional work. The tripod chassis is cast aluminum for further durability.
When it's not being used in its lateral mode, the AC-2320L's rapid center column functions like you'd expect from any professional tripod, extending after a twist of the knob on the upper collar. For protecting your camera when the column is retracted quickly, there's a rubber damper under the center-post collar. Steel locking screws underneath the center-post collar enable you to fasten a camera head more securely.
Pull-in/push-out positive leg locks allow you to set the positions of the three legs independently at three different angles. This allows you to shoot from low angles or on uneven terrain. For stability on softer terrain, the AC-2320L features metal spikes that retract and emerge by twisting the foot's rubber portion.

Solid head and legs. The lateral clamp allows the center extension tube to slip slightly when clamped in the horizontal position, but does not sag further after the camera is mounted. Seems to be a design flaw, but is quite useable if one compensates by setting position slightly higher than the final desired angle.

Decent Tripod
I bought this off of a recommendation from a fellow photographer.
I felt that it was a little flimsy overall, and ended up returning it.

Comments about Oben AC-2320L 3-Section Aluminum Lateral Tripod Legs:
The tripod has been matched with a Vanguard SBH-250 Ball head; this combination is replacing a Slik Universal U-212 of some forty years.
We will see if this combo can stand up to the rigors of its predecessor, if it does it will outlive me.

Comments about Oben AC-2320L 3-Section Aluminum Lateral Tripod Legs:
I started with the Manfrotto 190XPROBPro but found it too short (for my height-5'9")and a little light weight for the wind. When I compared, for within budget, this Oben fit the bill. The lateral feature is not nearly as smooth as the Manfrotto system, but I feel I have the more lasting, durable item in the Oben. If you're wondering about the lateral, out of a series of garden pics, the ones I needed the lateral to get were my favorite. It also had the carry bag included - nice.

Comments about Oben AC-2320L 3-Section Aluminum Lateral Tripod Legs:
I use this for landscape photography and it is very stable in all conditions. It's easy to set up and can be used when you need to get the camera at very low and unusual positions. Sure, it is little heavier, but not enough that I see it as a problem.
I would recommend it highly!

Comments about Oben AC-2320L 3-Section Aluminum Lateral Tripod Legs:
I keep this tripod in my truck and pull it out whenever I want to take a long exposure. The tripod works great and the lateral arm is fantastic. Now I can take images looking down and not have to worry about the tripod legs getting in the way.
I purchased a BC-1 head to go with the tripod and it works great. Everything fits nicely in the bag that comes with the tripod making for a clean set up.
My only reservation is the weight of the tripod. Take this tripod on a hike and you will feel the weigh after a few miles. I would go with the carbon fiber version if you are going to carry this for any distance.

Comments about Oben AC-2320L 3-Section Aluminum Lateral Tripod Legs:
This is a good value very stable tripod. If your lens and camera weighs less than 8 kilogram then you're good to go.
I specially prefer the clamp system for legs, because it's faster to operate. In my opinion, all the good features of an ideal tripod are present in this product. I heard some people complaining about the weight of the tripod. But since i have used hearvier one and unstable lighter one, this feels perfect for me. That's just my personal opinion.
Finally, being lateral is the best feature of this tripod. I would say i'm a happy customer.

Comments about Oben AC-2320L 3-Section Aluminum Lateral Tripod Legs:
I tried several professional tripods and can't say they were bad. But the features I wanted most, couldn't get them alltogether in one tripod. I never tried this Oben. Just ordered after reading about it. And when I got it in my hand, i felt this is what i was looking for all the time for the type of works I do. I heard complain about this tripod being heavy. But if you are looking for the same features in another tripod, that will absolutely be much heavier than this one.

THis tripod is built like a tank
it doesn't wobble at all everything is
securilhy locked in a place
i feel safe putting my 5d and Hasselblad
with no hesitations
Leg adjustment on this tripod is unbelievable
you can set it up on any surface
The swiveling center column opens up even more
possibilities, i do a lot of straight down shots
and this tripod makes a huge difference in the way i set up
the only negative is how big and heavy
this tripod is if you want a lighter tripod

Comments about Oben AC-2320L 3-Section Aluminum Lateral Tripod Legs:
I haven't yet had the opportunity to use the tripod much, only out with it a couple times. From the usage I've had, it's a very sturdy tripod, more than adequate for my D90 with a Sigma 70-300 lens. I love that it's tall enough with the legs fully extended, without using the center extension! No more squatting to use [as my friend calls it] the monopod with legs! It is heavier than I'm accustomed to, but the strap that comes with to hook into the tripod helps tremendously for ease of carrying. All in all, I think this will be used for a long time.

Got this tripod as an alternative to my heavier Manfrotto tripod that I got for use with my Canon XH-A1 camcorder. I use this tripod with my Canon 5D MarkII DSLR camera. Granted, it's not nearly as lightweight as the carbon fiber tripods Oben offers, but for the money, this aluminum tripod is sufficient for my needs.

Comments about Oben AC-2320L 3-Section Aluminum Lateral Tripod Legs:
Everytime I use my Oben AC-2320L I fall in love just a little bit more. I combined it with a Smith-Victor BH5 1.76mm Ballhead. They work amazingly well together. The specs say a minimum height of 10" but if you get creative with the swiveling center column and your ballhead you can basically be right at the ground. It is a little heavy but I use a Nikon D7000 with a Nikkor 28-300mm so I need stability for the massive load. Being from Minnesota the foam handgrips on the legs are a lifesaver, keep them hands warm eh.

I received the tripod and it is exactly what I was looking for . Heavy duty enough to hold my 30D and 100-400 L lens. Well designed and easy to handle.

This is a great tripod. Nice and sturdy. It's on the heavy side, but I care more about function than weight. The legs have three different locking positions to just about stand on anything. The carry sack it comes with is a nice touch. I would buy again but I don't see this one going bad for many years.

I bought this oden lateral tripod to shoot macro in the garden and haven't used it yet. Seems sturdy enough except when extended all the way out. With a D 7000 and battery grip I will need to add weight to the tripod.

Comments about Oben AC-2320L 3-Section Aluminum Lateral Tripod Legs:
The only thing that kept me from giving these legs a 5 star was the lever that locks the swivel-center column when used at different angles. It does not lock exactly at the angle you set it, but it can be tightened to not slip as much.
Otherwise, it's a great and versatile set of legs that you can easily get acquainted with and take full advantage of. A really surprising feature was that the center column also rotates to give you an even greater range of use.
It's very large and heavy, but if that's what you're looking for, it's perfect for you. If I could afford to spend twice as much for Carbon Fiber, I would, but as for what I have, I'm very happy with it.
