The 2TB LaCinema Classic HD Multimedia Hard Drive from LaCie is a media player that connects directly to your television set. It allows you to play back digitally encoded movies and music without the hassle of hooking your computer up to your home theater.
The player features a 2TB hard drive for media storage. It connects to a PC or Mac via USB 2.0 for data transfer. You'll also be able to connect it to your network via Ethernet in order to use the drive as a DLNA media server, which can be used to deliver media to a UPnP device. Popular UPnP devices include the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
The drive can also act as a UPnP device itself. This lets you stream media from other network devices that feature DLNA support. Integrated Ethernet also allows you to manually copy files from your computer to the device's internal hard disk, without having to directly plug it into the computer.
The player supports HDMI and composite video outputs for home theater connectivity. It can output video in 1080p HD resolution, making it an ideal companion for an HDTV. Most popular HD video codecs are supported, including DivX, MKV, AVC, and H.264.
The large 2TB hard drive provides ample storage space for all of your photos, videos, and music. The drive is housed in a stylish enclosure, designed by Neil Poulton. The user-friendly navigation system is designed to work hand-in-hand with the included remote control. A front USB port is present, making it easy to access media from a USB flash drive or portable hard drive.
