The Nissin Di466 Shoe Mount Digital Speedlight For Four Thirds Cameras features cutting-edge photographic technology for Auto Focus and TTL auto exposure systems, with precision and stability. The TTL flash power level is pre-set for reasonable exposures at the factory, however, users can reset the power to customize the flash to meet individual needs. This flash is easy to use and is packed with features such as variable power settings, an Auto Focus assist beam, and a power zoom that can tilt for easy bounce flash. It comes with a battery magazine system for quick power changes. The magazine has slots for all four batteries in the same direction for loading quickly, even in poor lighting. Additional magazines are available (not included).
- TTL Flash
- TTL metering compatibility for precision and stability
- Own TTL Value
- The TTL flash power level is pre-set for reasonable exposure at the factory. You can, however, reset the power at the desired exposure level, in ±3/4EV by 1/4EV increments. The preset value is memorized as your personal standard after switching the unit off. This unique system for customizing your level settings, called "MY TTL", is a feature exclusive to Nissin. The usual TTL flash level compensation works based on this customized level.
- TTL Flash Level Compensation
- The power of the flash can be controlled with TTL flash level compensation. Whereas total exposure is controlled by the camera's EV compensation function, the flash can compensate for the exposure on the main subject only, with little impact on the exposure of the background scene. The flash power level can be adjusted from -1.5EV through +1.5EV by 0.5EV steps.
- Battery Magazine
- For quick battery loading, Di466 comes with a battery magazine system. A convenient battery magazine has the slots for all four batteries in the same direction, with an anti-reverse loading guide so that the batteries can be correctly inserted every time, even in poor lighting. An extra battery magazine is separately available.
- Silent Oscillation
- The oscillation circuit produces frequencies that are inaudible to humans. The sharp humming of the oscillator can cause irritation, which may be quite severe in certain settings.
- Dual Program Wireless Remote
- The wireless remote flash system of Di466 works for either analogue (single flash) and digital (pre-flash) flash systems. Variable power in six steps is available. Place the Di466 off the camera and the flash synchronizes with the master flash placed on your camera. This wireless remote flash system is called slave flash technology and is often used for a creative lighting efficiency. Use the camera's built-in flash, the manufacturers' original flash, or Di466 as the master flash. Place one or more Di466 flash units away from the camera. Off-camera flash photography offers a different lighting configuration. Use multiple Di466 flash units to achieve professional flash techniques.
- Power Zoom & Turning Flash Head
- Light distribution angle is automatically adjusted for the lens focal length. A high quality stepping motor sharply traces the lens movement with the same speed as that of the camera manufacturer's original flash. The flash beam covers the frame from 14mm (with a wide angle diffuser built-in) to 70mm of the digital lens. For a longer lens, the flash head reflector position stays at 70mm. It turns 90 degree upward for bounce lighting. The flash head also stores a small reflection panel for a fill-in shot. 1
- Energy Saving System
- The Di466 has a dual energy saving system. It automatically enters sleep mode when it's not in use for 5 minutes, and is reset with a touch of the shutter button or any button of the flash. If the unit is not in use for 30 minutes, it will automatically power off. With the flash unit set for slave mode, sleep mode is cancelled and the automatic turn off timing is prolonged to 60 minutes.
- Variable Power
- When selecting manual power operation, choose from one of the six variable powers for the best lighting effect. The power level is provided from full power down to 1/32nd power in 1.0Ev increments.
- AF Assist Beam
- In darkness or dim light conditions, the Di466 beams an orange LED light to create a sharp contrast to enable the camera's focus sensor to focus easily on the subject.
- Color Filter Guide
- The Di466 has a guide rail for filters. Color filters and density filters can slide into the slot provided at the front of flash window.
- Flash Power Lock System
- The Di466 is compatible with the cameras' FE lock system. Refer to the camera owners' manual for details.
- Firmware Update
- A firmware upgrade service is available for the Di466, which provides a service terminal to upload the latest software. A charge for the firmware update service will apply, varying depending on the area.

I bought this flash because I wanted a TTL flash for my Olympus DSLR. This flash is simple to use. All functions are indicated by colored LED's. You can adjust TTL and manual +/- by pressing two buttons. The flash can be slaved to digital or film cameras. The 4 AA cells all face the same way and fit in a module. There is a built-in diffuser/ wide angle screen and a bounce card that slides out. The flash gives excellent exposures, close and far. The rotary mounting shoe knob works perfectly. A fabric pouch and a stand with a tripod bushing is included. Multiple units can be slaved with the camera mounted flash set to TTL. I am very pleased with the flash.

I got this for an Olympus OMD 4/3 camera. It works very well and has many features of considerably more expensive units. I discovered this after obtaining the owners manual off the internet. Apparently NISSIN does not include it in the package-an aggravating policy. There are multipurpose buttons that select certain features that are best referred to in the manual for full utilization.Otherwise a really useful flash of moderate output.

Perfect flash for 4/3rd system. Digital rear panel would be better but adjusting output is very easy. Flash should have horizontal rotation capabilities, but it doesn't. 5 stars if it did.

AF ASSIST BEAM does not work on M4/3, but it's not the faulty of the flash. Unfortunately, Olympus Pen cameras do not send the signal to the flash needed to activate the AF assist. Regular 4/3 does. I tried it out on an E-PL1, and E-P2. The TTL exposure is accurate and the bounce and compensation work well. Build quality is good. Wish the AF assist worked on my E-P2, otherwise great flash. I have the white version which is cool looking. Recycle is fast.

I was somewhat a skeptic about this due to some comments here and there but decided to try one. Its a perfect fit on my G3 panny. Power is much better over the pop up and exposure is always on the money. It carries 4 AA batteries and recycle times are very low. overall build quality seems decent for a flash in this price range and i have no complaints. Didnt notice much noise from the zoom motor which is nice. it is what it is, a decent ttl unit with some manual and slave capabilities. light and compact enogh to carry in a jacket pocket and not make your 43`rds too top heavy. If your looking to increase you flash range and capabilities and dont need a full on pro unit this is a good deal. dont like the way it shuts off, have to hold the power button for like 3 seconds to turn it off, but on the other hand it will go to sleep if left on and the camera is turned off, and will come back on when the camera is powered up, so a plus and a minus is a wash.

after a week of use i have found this a delightful little flash unit. I like the battery holder, makes more sense than some ive seen. the bounce works great and ttl exposures are always spot on. This really balances well on my G3 panasonic. i was afraid that it might make it too top heavy but it didnt and its comfortably stabil to use on a smaller camera. primarily going to use it for bounce and outdoor fill flash. I think its going to do well. It feels like solid construction overall. Not a pro level flash but simple and compact enough for the m43 cameras and it stays within the criteria of a compact m43 outfits purpose, which in my opinion is light weight, compact with high end capable results.

battery pack is convenient but doesnt close as tight as i wish it can be (leaving a small gap)

This flash works well on and off the camera. I use it on my Panasonic G2 and all the auto features work well. Recycle time is fast and silent. There is some noise from the flash when you zoom. The controls are easy to use and understand. The built in diffuser and reflector are handy. All for much less than the Panasonic unit.

Great little flash, compact and light. Simple, quick and dirty operation. If you're looking for a compact but powerful flash for your 4/3 camera, this is a good choice. Flash compensation is controlled by your digital camera control panel and / or the flash's control panel. Handy. Has AF assist beam. Only drawback is it does not swivel for vertically held bounce flash. It does tilt up to 90 degrees for horizontally held bounce though. Good for fill flash and powerful enough for event photography. Simple operation, great performance, economical - skip the expensive Olympus flashes.
